I have several dozen Saijo's I could check - got a photo of what I'm looking for?

sorry a bit late replying just had to do my 90day report.

first the wife phoned head office and she said they seem to be aware of the problem,

they asked for the registration no's which gives the yr.of registered june 2009.

she was told they would speak to someone higher and arrange for the covers to be replaced[no kidding].

the one unit had the fault second yr.and as the other one has only up to fri.14th march had about 12hrs.work.in a spare bedroom, since fri.we have had to sleep in that room and guess what the unit burst in the night.[mon.10pm]

now imho what to look for,the first developed an airline crack right at the bottom of the unit left side, you wont see it at first, unless like ours it looks like its been hit with a hammer and you can now see its been repaired 3times.we thought the installers had broken it when they put it in and as we didn't see it for over a yr.it was no good complaining.

you will also get quite a bit of water leaking out of the cracks this again we didn't see as we have sliding windows so the water was draining through the tracks.

now last night I was awake when I heard the water spash on the window and floor and seeing in the morning another crack appeared and this unit has had about 40hrs work since fri.

it was the service men that found the cracks on the one in the spare bed so how long that must have been broke is a guess nobody has used that room since feb.2013.and before that nov.2010.we didn't think to check the unit has it had so little use.

not knowing if its a manufacturing fault on all units manu.2009 or just our models but the service men said the covers were cheap rubbish.

our models are super wall savers, model sj-w,as both faults are left bottom under thr louver doors and on the left side[bottom] the right sides are not effected.

I will post if we get some satisfaction from saijo denki.

I checked 4 different sized units we have, none have the cracking.. Ours are all 2011 and 2012 hybrid inverter models though, so possible it was a defect they fixed in newer units, or these ones use a different indoor unit altogether..

Not that it's any real consolation when you're talking about something that should last 10 years+, but 2009 models were nowhere near as efficient as newer models, and at 5 years old they'll be using about 20-25% more electricity than they did when new too - so if you're a heavy AC user, buying new A/C's could possibly have a payback of 2-3 years...

The good news is, some brands have caught up to Saijo Denki's efficiency now, so there's plenty of choice in high EER units.

we wouldn't have bothered about the main one but our service guys told us the covers were breaking as they were takeing them off,the water tray, the cover, and the base were all cracking so should last longer than 4yrs.but when they said the spare bedroom one was going the same way that's when we phoned saijo denki with enquirery to purchase the parts.but they dropped a bolluck by telling us it was a manufacturing fault with that yr.well you know the rest.

so it looks like either daikin or Mitsubishi.

its over another week since saijo denki promised to phone back and havnt.

so their customer service score's 0 out of a 100.
