Overtaken by a skateboarder on Pratumnak Hill

Driving down Pratumnak Hill today I noticed a blur in my rear view mirror and it was not a motorbike, it was young guy on a skateboard. He overtook me and disappeared from view in the busy traffic ahead. I only caught up with him again at Siam Bayshore. He was really gunning it down the hill and I have no idea how he would have stopped if faced with a truck pulling out of the construction site half way down the hill.

If you look closely at the picture, you will see that he is looking down. He actually has a mobile phone in his hands. Presumably updating his facebook status or checking in on Foursquare.

Come on guys - get with it, skateboarders have ways to stop. You'd be surprised how fast good skateboarders can stop.

Looks like he's riding a longboard, way easier to stop/avoid an obstacle than on an actual skateboard

probably a motorized longboard--release the throttle trigger and the brakes engage (quite rapidly and vigorously I might add)
