Blank Pages in US Passport

Featured Replies

I live in Isaan near Udon Thani. I just got my Retirement Visa renewed. I plan on traveling and got a re-entry permit. My problem is I just noticed I don't have blank pages in Passport only amendment pages. Not wanting to have to go back to Chiang Mai or Bangkok, is there a way I can go to Laos and get pages added to my passport?

You could probably get the pages added in Vientiane. But I am not sure how you will get there without having any pages left in your passport. You need at least one full page for the Lao visa.

If you can wait until the 23rd of April there will be an a consular outreach then in Udon. See: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/consular_outreach.html

as above, u need a page for the laos visa, exit stamp for Thailand, entry stamp for laos,

US embassy will issue the extra pages in about 10 minutes an charge you $82 for it

the out reach will also do it for u but they need take ur passport back to Bangkok, You give them some extra money for envelope an ems postage and they will than post it back to you

Sounds like I either go back to Chiang Mai or Bangkok, which is difficult for me. I am not familiar with the out reach. I gather they are trustworthy and won't loose the passport or you wouldn't bring them up. If I understand correctly then I give my passport up to them, they return it with 24 blank pages for embassy charge and then there is an envelope charge and stamp fee only. Sounds good using the out reach if I'm correct in what you have said.

It will be embassy employees at the outreach so I think you could consider them trustworthy.

From one of the outreach info pages.

  • Extra visa pages ($82 or Baht 2,542.00). Note: we can accept applications, but the passports will have to be brought back to the Embassy for final processing. There are two options for receiving your passport back. (a) The mail back option: There will be prepaid Thailand Post envelopes (costing Baht 80.00) available for purchase if you wish to have your passport mailed back to you. (b ) Collecting in person from the Embassy: You may collect your passport in person from the Embassy in Bangkok. Or, you may give written authorization for someone to collect the passport on your behalf.

I am wanting to do some traveling and come back to Thailand before my yearly visa expires. I've got about 15 months left on my current passport and wonder if they will let me get a new one now, instead of new pages. I checked online and they said the embassy would install 24 blank pages, but in about 9 months I'll have to apply for a new passport anyway. If I can't get a new one I would like extra pages installed, but I'm going to need more than 3 or 4, the 24 pages seems excessive m but I know they do this every day so I'll accept what they do. Where do I apply?

The will let you apply for a new passport. The US has no restrictions on how early you can do it. You will get a 52 page passport without needing to ask for it when you apply through the embassy.

Edit: You can apply at the out reach. Or at the embassy or the consulate in Chiang Mai.

If possible, you should renew your passport approximately nine months before it expires. Some countries require that your passport be valid at least six months beyond the dates of your trip. Some airlines will not allow you to board if this requirement is not met.

If I decide to apply for a new passport, will I be able to utilize the outreach for this service? Do you know the cost of a new passport and I'm guessing the service takes about 2 weeks.

As I said in my previous post you can do ti at the outreach.

Passport renewal applications ($110.00 or Baht 3,410.00 for adult passports, and $105.00 or Baht 3, 255.00 for a child’s passport). There are two options for obtaining your new passport; (a) The mail back option: There will be prepaid Thailand Post envelopes (costing Baht 80.00) available for purchase if you wish to have your passport mailed back to you. Please note your current passport MUST be submitted to the consular officer if you will be requesting this option. (b ) Collecting in person from the Embassy: You may collect your passport in person from the Embassy in Bangkok. Or, you may give written authorization for someone to collect the passport on your behalf. Choosing this option will allow you to hold your passport until you pick up your new passport at the Embassy.

This from recent outreach in Pattaya: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/consular_outreach_pattaya_040214.html

In a few more weeks you should check this webpage and you will get the same info for the one in Udon next month. http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/consular_outreach.html

Where is the out reach and what are the hours?

Where is the out reach and what are the hours?

The hours are normally 8 to 12. I don't recall where they have it in Udon but it will be at a hotel. Just keep checking the outreach page I posted a link to and Udon Thani should soon turn blue and you can then click it and get the location.

"... I'm guessing the service takes about 2 weeks"

I got mine renewed last month. I did it through an outreach in Pattaya and it took 3 1/2 weeks. The average time, I hear, is a few days quicker than that.

When applying at the embassy is normally about 10 days up to a max of 2 weeks. It may take a bit longer by outreach because of it being sent to you by EMS.

Mine took exactly 10 days to the date I got an email informing me it was at the embassy.
