Overstay to pay at the Airport

Featured Replies

Hi everyone! I have a friend who overstayed for almost 14 months now. He got a job last month and his company will provide him a Work Permit.

Is it possible that he can pay the Overstay fine of 20000 Baht at the airport when he fly to Singapore as he will apply his Non-Immigrant Business Visa in Singapore.

(He will fly to Singapore with his family, wife -has a student visa and son 4 years old, tourist visa)

Please advise us if there will be a problem at the airport.

Did someone encounter the same case like this?

Will there be also a problem for him on his Non-B Visa application in Thai Embassy in Singapore?

All comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

There will be no problem with paying the overstay at the airport.

Applying for a visa in Singapore may be tricky.

Your friend will need to ensure that all necessary documentation is available.

It may be better to consider Penang for the visa.

Unless he has a work permit application done and a letter of approval for it he will not get a non-b visa.

Can we please get an ongoing OVERSTAY forum set up that explains everything. It is getting ridiculous to have people every other day posting the same damn question.

OP please read the answer to yur questiion on hte milion other posts for those that decided tolive here illlegally

Yes but do not get caught by the police or immigration on the way it would be interesting to know how many thousands are in Thailand with expired visas I am sure they could have a " my visa expired forum " all to themselves

As stated paying the fee at the airport is not an issue. However Singapore could be a problem. Suggest Penang, Laos Cambodia etc. Hong Kong and Singapore are know to be very difficult.

Why is he taking his wife and son with him? Are they on overstay as well?

If they are on overstay the would not have as overstay fee to pay since he is under the age of 12. The wife would have to pay if on overstay.

Okay, the friend that's you. Easy to understand.

So the wife is on an education visa, son on a tourist and the OP on no visa.

The company can only provide documents for a work permit, which will be issued by the local labor department. You can pay your fine at the airport, but when applying for a Non-B could raise eye brows.

If somebody receives a visa or not, is in the end up to the Immigration officer.

There's a high possibility that your spouse and child as dependents of you have a big chance to be legal as well.

And I certainly agree that a " I am on a XXX years overstay. Please help me Forum." should be created ASAP.-wai2.gif

Every single day we seem to get the same question- am an illegal immigrant, I really should not be here, now have illegal kids- how can I get around this problem .

I totally realise you have to have a degree to understand the visa system - but like most degrees it's no so difficult .

Stick to the law- have no sympathies with the OP's predicament

Check in with your airline. Before you clear security somebody will fetch you. Pay with smile and you'll be on your way. Amen

I must agree with you. They make their bed.........

It is the wrong doing of the illegals that create the rules and hoops that the rest of us then have to jump through. I know how the UK populace feel about illegals, why do some folk think it's OK to behave this way in other countries?

My sincere advice. Don't ever try Singapore if anything is not in the correct path. Wish you good luck.

my personal opinion is that its just a matter of time that we see a serious crackdown on (deliberate)overstayers.

With extensive consequences for re-entry in the kingdom.

Why?

It is getting 'usual' and for sure and for hold .....don't think the immigration department doesn't read TV!!!!

The difference with most other topics that return every day is that those are legal. Why help people that stay here illegal. We would not do that in our home countries. It would be different if the overstay was a few days or weeks. But when we talk about years!!!

And they always ask for a friend ;)

Well I understand that:) But where is the logic? Afraid to write I did overstay ? But not afraid to actually do a couple of years illegal overstay ;)

Ah, but then you'll be denying the overstaying brigade on here opportunities to brag to the rest of us about their (or their mates') breaches of the law in this regard.tongue.png

Somehow I doubt whether these braggers are similarly relaxed and chilled-out towards Thai nationals overstaying in their home countries!
