"His deputy, Anusorn Iamsa-ard, reiterated that there had been a conspiracy by the PDRC and some political parties, independent agencies as well as the military and unidentified forces to topple the government".

The conspirators care for no-one and no-thing other than their own selfish interests.

They are more than willing to let the country go down the drain to try and get their way.

In fact, these losers are of a mindset that the more damage they do to the country, the better than chances are of winning so they are actively trying to cause and inflict as much harm as their small following can on the real great masses of the people.

Can't agree more with you !! these moronic Red Shirts are killing this country and it's people and feel nothing for it or them as long as they can steal every baht they can for their camel jockey in Dubai and his sister and for them self's !!! Only way they can win is to buy their votes and make promises they can't keep to the poor but feel great to steal their money !! Need REFORMS in place before any elections can take place so these thieving Red Shirts can't continue on their path of destruction of this country !! (and I hope they don't kill anymore children that may be at any rally's) The Government should be working for the people NOT taking everything away from the people and the country.

Vote buying.

Thaksin is the devil.

Take away these two fallacies, what else you got to justify the coup?

Vote buying doesn't effect election outcomes in Thailand.

Thaksin is just run of the mill corrupt, more corrupt than a few and less corrupt than many (particularly the predecessor premiers).

Jatuporn called on the red shirts to wear black from tomorrow to Sunday to mourn the behaviour of independent agencies.

Independent agencies means the same as not government controlled agencies, isn't it ?

That's probably why they made a judgment that goes against the red shirts understanding.

.............................."Pheu Thai Party spokesman Prompong Nopparit called on the Election Commissioners to resign and pay the Bt3.8 billion cost incurred in staging the February 2 poll."...............................

Fine, as long as PTP resigns and pays back all the money it has embezzled/lost/stolen/squandered/sent to overseas accounts during it's time in office.

Anyone ever clarified why Thaksin's net worth increased substantially last year when he did the Forbes interview? He says it was money returned to him by PTP, but ive heard nothing more about it. Any ideas?

Thai court decided that approx 36 Billion from the approx 76 Billion confiscated was not justified for and had to be returned.

Which is ridiculous given the fact he has absconded after being found guilty and failed to return to face other, more serious, charges. Freezing of assets/accounts is quite acceptable - and the Reds continue to say the courts are biased AGINST them.

Do you have any links? cos I can't find that news anywhere and it obviously has been kept quite quiet.

The judges ruled that of 76bn baht (1.5bn GBP) seized from Thaksin after he was forced from power, 46bn baht was earned through "inappropriate means". He will be returned 30bn baht.

"To seize all the money would be unfair since some of it was made before Thaksin became prime minister," the court said.Thaksin was prime minister from 2001 to 2006, when he was overthrown in a military coup.

What a mess this is turning out to be , it all revolves around catch 22, you're dammed if you do and dammed if you don't, you really don't want an election that returns the PTP and C.T. P.M. Yingluck into a much stronger position , where everyone will be told to go take a jump and you really want to see reforms happen , question is when, regardless of who wins an election , the other side will be out protesting, catch 22. coffee1.gif

Almost makes you long for an absolute monarchy doesn't it. smile.png

Does not have to be all reforms in place before an election.

All that is needed are electoral reforms to keep crooks out of government and make an election as fair as possible.

Then hold an election followed by all the other reforms as decided on by an independent body and taken to a referendum with the result binding on the Govt.

The operative quote here is to "make an election as fair as possible"....It would be interesting to see the plans the PAD-Dem's have for this. What is obviously an attempt to diddle the system to improve their electability, without changing themselves.

And again, the anti-democratic blather about "reforms as decided on by an independent body..."...Not by an elected, nationally representative body such as Parliament, but by "a few"...Presumably a BKK. based group, who they will attempt to stack with unelectable Amart operatives usurping the role of a national electorate.

Using the smoke of a 'national referendum', presenting the electorate with the "cooked books" is diversionary. The country just spent billions on a 'national referendum called an election", which they want to nullify.

If they have all these holier-than-thou proposals for reform, sell them via an election.

As an aside, I am glad TV has a policy of preventing 'double nicks".

PAD is long gone. Dems have said will stand in fair elections. Seems simple enough to me

Bit of a mystery why you hyphoned the two as they are not linked politically. Unless of course you are trying create smoke where there is no fire.

The PAD may have changed their name, but the people are the same, with the same old tired objective; "get rid of Thaksin regime at all cost"

The third key leadership is none other than the former PAD. Rebranded as the “People’s Movement to Overthrow the Thaksin Regime” or Goh Poh Toh (กองทัพประชาชนโค่นระบอบทักษิณ), the former PAD leaders are now back with a vengeance. Somkiat Pongpaibul, Somsak Kosaisuk, Suriyasai Katasila, Chamlong Srimuang (and his side-kick, Samedin Lertbutra), Pichet Pathanachote, Sirichai Mai-ngam, and Prasong Soonsiri lined up the stage to rally up the crowd with the same rhetoric they’d used throughout the PAD’s heyday: get rid of Thaksin regime at all cost; save the monarchy; Thaksin’s nominees; loss of sovereignty; corruption, Ahimsa, etc.

"Unless the PM agrees to hold talks".... Hasn't she tried to do that several times and been rejected by Suthep already?

Can you really call it "trying to hold talks" when you set conditions that make it impossible (or at least unpalatable) for the other party to accept? I don't think so. Of course, it's the same for Suthep asking for public meetings with Yingluck - he knows she can't agree.

"Speaking at a PDRC event at Lumpini Park in Bangkok yesterday to raise funds for rice farmers..."

Talk about trying to put "lipstick on a pig". Seeking to whitewash coup-monger mongering, by characterizing it as something else.

The last several times they called their speeches a "seminar and a Forum"....Now it is a phony portrayal as in above quote. Being one of fund-raising for a voter segment they normally call 'buffalo's. And calling their Lumpini Park stuff an "event"

It is annoying to see ones intelligence assaulted like that. Gives the impression they have a very low opinion of readership, or they think all their readers are PAD-Dem's who would buy this stuff.

This latter point demonstrated in the following quote:.."...as the people are not ready to go voting. They want reform." ...... Confusing his accolytes with the "people at large".......

Their efforts to sell such nonsense in the face of supreme efforts to nullify an election, where those "people" rendered their opinions, is again "intelligence insulting". Voter and "people" assessment and conclusions about the anti-democratic idiocy of Suthep and his shadowy supporters is very clear, and therefore needs to be negated by these anti-democrats.......

Their efforts to avoid that vote with the assistance of their friends on the CC, is very understandable.

Have you mistakenly posted this garbage in the wrong thread or are you just trying to divert attention away from the red loons?

This thread is about a red shirt rally. We can all guess what it will be about. I will post the agenda below:

1. Make threats to people who do things that they don't like

2. Praise the murderers of innocent children.

3. Threaten the courts and other independent bodies

4. Hand out the telephone numbers of judges and other people so that they may be directly threatened

5. Talk about building an army of several hundred thousand people trained and armed

6. Wear their red and white insignia while they discuss secession

7. You will hear NOTHING about the people they claim to represent such as the rice farmers

8. Claim again and again that they are building & protecting democracy

Indeed - especially when they don't even vote for their own leaders and get selected as party list candidates because of their paid support of Thaksin

"Suthep and PDRC leader Thaworn Senneam yesterday spoke to PDRC guards about democracy"

Anti-Democrats espousing Democracy. How ridiculous is that.

Week after week, the media produce stories that promote Suthep Thaugsuban and his anti-democrats. The propaganda is simply tiresome.

On the thug-guards referenced in this article, that the anti-democrat leadership is apparently arming and trying to indoctrinate..

Thaworn Senniam, a core member of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and not that long ago a deputy leader of the Democrat Party, is in charge of the guards. It seems his job is to make armed thugs appear as something else.

The coup-mongers talk about the guards being maligned. Maligned? Heck, hasn't one just been arrested for blazing away with an automatic war weapon they reason?

I understand that at one time there were some 4,000 guards and this is now down to 2,234 after a number of them either quit or were screened out."

These guards are paid a daily allowance of 500 baht for their services. That's more than a 1.1 million baht a day now and 2 million a day previously. With the protests having been going for about four months, it can be estimated that some US$7 million might have been paid out for brown shirts alone.

Red haze went into your eyes again ?

23 died innocent people, 3 kids.... this is on the account of the present illegal government.

Anyone knows what happened to 4.2 billion USD Thaksin assets which were frozen in the UK? The whole UK business of Thaksin is surrounded with the veil of mystery. Zero transparency. Some powerful people are covering up for him in England. Of course, they have financial interest.

Interesting story.

About sums it up Bob.

That is sums up the attitude of the Thaksin gang and the Suthep gang. Both claiming their minority gangs represent the majority and care about the people whereas they both simply want to be dictators and enrich themselves and their gang members. Only difference is Suthep ain't really the big boss, just a mouthier more intelligent puppet than YL, but much less attractive of course. Thaksin on the other hand is the head honcho boss of bosses on his side.

Pity the vast majority of Thai people who deserve a corrupt free real democracy with real law, order and justice. But have on one or any political party to do it.

PDRC anti-government protest leader calls Bangkok mass rally on March 29
By Digital Content

13955548124540-640x390x2.jpg

BANGKOK, March 23 -- Anti-government leader Suthep Thaugsuban on Saturday night called for a fresh major rally on March 29 to demand political reforms before the country holds a new general election.

The move came after a Constitutional Court ruling on Friday, which nullified the February 2 general election.

Mr Suthep, secretary-general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), told supporters at the stage in Lumpini Park that apart from Bangkok, the PDRC in provinces nationwide would hold rallies at their home provinces.

In Bangkok, he said, the demonstration would be the biggest ever rally and would start at 9.30am on March 29. The rally would be only one group, starting from Lumpini Park to Sukhumvit, Pathumwan, PhayaThai and Royal Plaza.

The rally was aimed to called for the political reform before the general election.

Mr Suthep reiterated that the rally would be a peaceful gathering and urged supporters to prepare only their whistles.

He said that as a warm-up and rehersal, there would be marches on Bangkok streets everyday from Monday to Friday to promote the Saturday rally. The route for each day would be later be announced.

Meanwhile, in the eastern province of Chon Buri, the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) or red shirt group held a rally on Saturday to denounce the Constitutional Court ruling that declared the February 2 general election invalid.

UDD chairman Jatuporn Prompan said that red shirt supporters would wear black from Monday to Sunday to mourn the decisions of independent organisations.

He said the UDD has planned events at three locations on March 29 but he would keep them secret for now.

Mr Jatuporn said that the UDD would also hold mass rallies nationwide on April 5. Whether they would move to Bangkok or any other locations would later be disclosed.

He said the red shirt would fight with their bare hands for democracy and would not give up. (MCOT online news)

Any ideas?

He bragged to Forbes that his sisters administration had returned 1 billion baht to him. The courts has indeed said it should be returned and his sister's government must of thought this more of a priority than other outstanding payments they had.

What is interesting is that Forbes also reported the Shin family fortune, headed by Thaksin, increased a whopping 450% in the period since his sister took office. Hopefully this increase in their family wealth and revenue sources of their businesses will be fully transparent and all above board. His sister has already stated there is no corruption in her government, no corruption in the rice scheme, and was photographed at the launch of her anti-corruption program, which the report on progress is eagerly awaited. She will no doubt answer the very old Ombudsman's questions and NACC questions regarding corrupt illegal acts in the fullness of time.

PTP transparency - legendary.

A "mass rally in Pattaya". I was there yesterday and saw a parade of about 15 vehicles. That is a MASS RALLY? (of course on the highway coming back, I also saw 4 trucks broken down on the side of the road) :-)

You must have missed these.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/712747-udd-to-stage-a-mass-rally-in-south-pattaya/?p=7595281

Right now on the highway towards Pattaya, a 7 km long stand still queue of cars, with my estimate at least 500 Bangkok taxis .

Looks like the rice farmers are now all taxi drivers. Many red flags on the cars
