Do you remember when...

Featured Replies

Ok this is not specific to Thailand but...

Do you remember when you could watch television and the only thing on the screen was the program that you are watching?

I'm not stupid, I know who I pay my bills to, so I know who the service provider is. I don't need or want it on the screen!

Guess what! I pushed the little buttons and I know what channel I have selected. I really don't need the channel name displayed.

Usually, I know what I am watching. Why is it necessary to take up more of the screen space with the name of the program?

Now, more and more there are these little pop-ups promoting upcoming programmes.

I guess that they won't be happy until they have totally obliterated the screen

I know! Life can be so cruel in these modern times.

There are alternatives, like the UK system where viewers can watch the BBC channels with no ads and no logos on screen for £145.50 (7785 baht) license fee per year and if they don`t pay, even if they don`t watch the BBC, the police come and arrest them and they go to jail.

As for the pay subscription channels if they cut out all the crap, adverts, logos and pop ups, then the viewers would have to pay extra to compensate for the lack of revenue for the stuff that advertisers like to push in our faces on our TVs.

It would be nice having totally free TV viewing with no ads, but that would only be in a perfect world.
