Ok I married my Thai wife in January,Want to apply for a marriage Visa, currently I have a triple entry visa issued from UK(I am a uk citizen)I have funds in my UK bank,I transfer 40,000 baht every month from my UK bank to my Thai Bank,So I have now done that 3 months running, when I go to UK embassy will they want to see proof of where this money comes from or do I sign a declaration that i have this income?then when I go to Thai immigration I have proof that my income is at least 40,000 baht on my Thai bank book,so many stories out there what is true and what isn't,its a minefield.

Some people say just has to show the 40,000 not where it comes from then others say it has to be backed up with employer details etc etc.

Thanks in advance

There are no "marriage visas"

If you wish to apply for an extension of stay based on marriage the financial requirement are 400,000 in the bank or a monthly income of 40,000 certified by the Embassy.

The UK Embassy will need to "see" where the income derives from.

The UK embassy will want proof of your income. Most immigration offices do not ask for back up proof for the income letter.

You cannot apply for a normal visa. At Bangkok immigration you can do a change of visa status from your tourist visa to a 90 day non immigrant visa entry based upon being qualified for an extension of stay based upon marriage by showing your income and other required documents. You must have 15 days remaining on your entry to do it.

Then during the last 30 days of the 90 entry you get you can apply and extension of stay by showing the same documents you showed before.

Unless you live near Bangkok it might be best to make a trip to a nearby embassy or consulate to get a single entry non-o visa. You will more than likely have to make 3 trips to Bangkok to get the visa entry because they first give you a 15 day under consideration stamp when you apply while they approve it.

So a statement from my UK bank account is enough,or has to be a letter from an Employer in the UK?

I do not believe the Embassy stipulate what they will accept as "evidence" but items such as a P60 + evidence of ongoing income would, I am sure, be accepted.

I think either one would be accepted.

Maybe not.

The P60 reflects past earning not current income but salary advice slips would be another means of demonstrating income.

I do not believe a "letter" unless from a Government agency or a Blue Chip company would be accepted.

NB

The Embassy do demand original documentation ---------no photocopies or internet print outs.

Your answer is here "income of 40,000 certified by the Embassy".

You need your embassy to certify your income. Problem solved.
