The EM bracelet usage would also be demonstrated in the meeting, she added.-- The Nation 2014-03-
Popular Post kriswillems
How about putting them in jail for 1 year? Would they or their friends effectively dare to return? Any law or rule is just as strong as the punishment you get when you don't follow it. That's the explanation why laws don't seem to work in Thailand.

Shouldn't the cabbies and tour guides lose their licences if they are deceiving customers....wait, hang on, sorry forgot where I live for a moment there. Carry on boys. Now, where's my coffee? If there's an easy or difficult way of doing something ! Too simple to take away their licence and hammer them every time they turn up at Swampy.
Popular Post SoilSpoil
Copy the Singaporean model, government owned taxis that cabbies can rent. If they break the rules, refuse passengers, etc. they will lose their licence and can not get their hands on a taxi anymore. Simple and effective, just a touch more expensive!
bino
Often wondered about these things... how long does the battery last? What is to keep the taxi drivers and scammers from "forgetting" to plug them in and charge them at bedtime? Once the batteries are dead, it would be business as usual for these guys. edgarfriendly
more likely is they will simply congregate everywhere else like they do anyway. the airport isnt the only place these vermin abuse the very source of their income! 6 months suspended sentence for 1st (next) offence plus 36 months licence suspension 12 months jail for 2nd offence plus full licence cancellation MP position & national immunity for 3rd offence. or just beat the absolute shit out of them until they scream, probably before the first punch! ezzra
Lame brain idea and hard to implement, just make sure that all cabbies and tour guide that enter the arrival/departure halls will be vetted just like the passengers do.. check their ID against any known data base, yes, there will be fake ID's but you can't win them all... Manbing
Far simpler to shoot them out the back with the birds? You might think this kind of radical solution is far fetched- but really is it? Think about it for a minute...

klauskunkel
Great idea! And if they are caught at the airport, they can pay tea money to the police, yup. The terrifying threat of an electronic bracelet will lead to post traumatic stress disorder and emotional scarring on the tender psyches of BKK cabbies. I suggest the District Court should tackle the issues of appropriate punishment for perps and law enforcement instead of providing a way out and another income stream for the BiB. But then we get this scenario: Bracelet vs. Headache...Bracelet vs. Headache...Bracelet vs. Headache..., hmmm: BRACELET wins (!)
slapout
Yes, lets take the braclet concept, (monitor/limit travel away from disignated living/home site) and propose a complete bass ackwards intent for the device and the intial restriction on the individuals travel. RickFarang
While this might sound attractive, keep in mind that the true motivation is probably the sale of the monitoring bracelets and collection of monitoring fees. Any benefit to society would be secondary.

Ankle monitors/bracelets are high-tech and use lithium-ion, latest generation batteries. No need to "plug them in" at bedtime. They send a signal to the monitoring station in the event of low battery, tampering or mechanical/software problems. The are designed for months upon months of wear before the batteries need servicing.
