webfact
Child serial killer spared from death penaltyBy Coconuts BangkokBANGKOK: -- A confessed serial killer who preyed on young children was sentenced to life in prison this morning.Although charged with only the two cases for which police could find evidence, the man known only as “Nui” fully confessed to murdering and raping many more, and for that the Phra Khanong Provincial Court said it would spare his life.Nui’s horrible crimes became known soon after he was caught on CCTV at the BTS Bearing station in the act of kidnapping 6-year-old “Cartoon” from a vehicle she was resting inside. That story gripped Thailand’s attention in December, especially when the 36-year-old drifter then told police it was the latest in a series of crimes involving the abuse, rape and murder of children. There were at least nine victims, he claimed. He was also charged with the murder of a 4-year-old girl in Loei and helped police to find her remains. Popular Post djjamie
In Thailand a drug smuggler who has the potential, through his drugs, to destroy the lives of people is given a death sentence, but a man that has already destroyed the lives of innocent children and left behind grief stricken relatives gets life in jail. Lets hope he regrets living everyday that he has remaining on this earth. Edited March 28, 2014 by djjamie

Nickymaster
Ok. I don't know what is worse, death penalty or the rest or your life in a Thai prison. Inmates tend not to like children killers and abusers.

webfact
Confessed Serial Child Rapist-Murderer Jailed For LifeBy Khaosod EnglishBANGKOK: -- Phra Khanong Provincial Court has sentenced the man accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a number of children to life in prison.Mr. Nui, whose surname has not been registered in the national database, is convicted of premeditated murder and sexual assault for the death of the 6-years old girl nicknamed Nong Cartoon, who went missing last December and was found dead several days later in Bang Na district of Bangkok. The suspect was arrested after CCTV footage showed him leading the girl away, and Mr. Nui confessed to his crime. He was initially sentenced to death today, but the judge reduced his penalty to a lifetime jailterm due to his cooperative manner during the investigation. Our correspondent added that Mr. Nui listened to the verdict without showing any emotion throughout the court session. The father to Nong Cartoon later told reporters he is still saddened by the incident, and said his family would conduct a religious ceremony on 13 April to mark the 100th day of her passing.Police investigation indicated that Mr. Nui might have been responsible for at least 10 other cases of sexual assaults of young children in many provinces. Among these victims, 4 have been murdered by Mr. Nui, according to his own confession and police investigation. The case of Nong Cartoon also spurs the authorities to amend police procedures related to missing children, namely abolishing the requirement that parents could only report missing children after 24 hours have elapsed since the children were last seen.Source: http://en.khaosod.co.th/detail.php?newsid=1395988411 -- Khaosod English 2014-03-
Popular Post ianf
One can but hope that this objectionable piece of human excrement will indeed suffer the equivalent of ''the death of a thousand cuts'' whilst it festers in the Bangkok Hilton. People like this have a very serious mental health problem. Sadly, the brain is part of the human body and, just like your heart or lungs, things can go wrong with it. That's why respectable human rights organisations oppose the death penalty. Unfortunately lowlife people, even for cases of this appalling and vile nature, still call for people to be hung, drawn and quartered. There are many despots whom have committed vile acts against their fellow human beings, or encouraged others to do so. I can think of thousands really: people such as Mao, Pol Pot, Hitler, Thaksin, Saddam, the Taliban, Bush and so on and so forth. Yet people in the main don't call for their execution. But their crimes ended the lives of children, women, innocents all. Seriously, we should be looking at the mental health of people who commit crimes that go against human values (such as they are) and as a society, a global society, work out ways in which these people can be kept safely away from the mainstream. I know that all you witch-hunters out there will oppose my words, but I'm telling it as I feel it.

Yunla
I'm sure there's a lot of hard labor work under the hot sun that he can do for the rest of his days, with his leg-irons and bowl of rice per day salary. Make him contribute to improving society by digging and carrying, instead of just robbing the most precious things from society - children. Death sentences or just sitting around are not punishment, and doesn't help society. Hard labor is punishment and repayment at the same time. lingyai
Not sure how it works but maybe he got deal as he showed them where the body was of one of his victims so no death penalty. Life imprisonment will be worse anyway. Not worth putting this guy to death and risk putting to death an innocent person because the death penalty is still in use. AyG
The man is clearly sick. It's sad that he won't get the medical treatment he needs to confront his problems, and that he will have no chance of reform leading to his having a normal life outside prison.

Amazing that laziness of the authorities spares you the gallows here. Maybe they can't prove it. This happens in the US also. He also helped them find a body so maybe that is the reason. Just like it happens in the US. Life in Thai prison is going to be pretty bad for him, he is being punished.

FiestyFarang
Raping and murdering children - I know in Thailand your sentence is reduced if you confess to the crime but for such serious crimes like this there should be the death penalty, or if deemed mentally unfit to stand trial a life sentence in a secure mental hospital. Not only the children are dead under terrible circumstances but the parents and family lives are forever changed so much.

Source: http://en.khaosod.co.th/detail.php?newsid=1395988411 -- Khaosod English 2014-03-28 It's good to read that the father/family of the last victim have apparently found closure and are not out there baying for more blood and death like so many of the posters here. The perpetrator of these crimes is obviously mentally ill (he was never educated and didn't even know his family name from press reports). He may have an organic brain defect or just a warped and misformed view of human sexuality...in any case he's sick and needs to be locked up (I won't say and receive treatment as this is Thailand) where he can't harm other children.
