Drunk Aussie tourist marks rough landing in Phuket

I fail to understand how this is turning in to an anti-aussie post. This idiot could have had any passport.

The criticism should be directed at the crew for not controlling the alcohol intake. (If it was them that sold it. Who knows, he may have bought stuff at a tax free joint).

I suspect that he has brown bombed himself too, brown stainage visible on inside of left thigh, just adjacent to where his balls are hanging out. Pure class this one, Aussie's finest. I reckon the airline has to answer a few questions too. He was not that drunk getting on the plane, that's for sure.

Yep great strategy, fastracked through the crowds at customs, police escort to ensure not harassed by the tuk tuk mafia outside the airport, some free handsum man attention from the nurses, and then a free ride to Patong. He saved at least a 1000THB on the taxi fare, and got a basketful of other freebies to boot.

Despite his ridiucilous Mark Reid wannabe moustache...this bloke may well be a genius...

Is today national 'holier than thou' day...?... you'd think so reading a lot of the comments. Well done to the thai police for taking a more humane and sensible approach than what many posters here would have them take.

Whatever you say, a lot of good hearted people between the hospital staff, the lady he groped and the police, to let him go on with his holiday without making problems for him.

And for this reason, the Thai people will always be much better than the foreign guests they allow in, no matter how much that concept really makes you want to hit the 'Quote' button right now.

This would be so disappointing, for Australia, and australians, if indeed the lad was so drunk as to pass out multiple times, in the manner described, as opposed to an unfortunate occurrence of a mix of alcohol, drugs (prescribed or otherwise), and altitude, or any other combination of factors, which may have resulted in these symptoms.

As no mention of toxicology was made, and as the man was released without charge (which would never happen in Australia) we will never know the real situation or circumstances.

That said.... I can say with some certainty, that blackmirage2013 is an uninformed reactionary without a clue.

Nothing that this idiot has said rings true.

Australians, with a "prisoner" heritage are actually proud of that heritage, and those without are often jealous of them. I do not know any with inferiority complexes, due to the good fortune of their place of birth, quite the contrary, with both Australians, and the world at large, often viewing Australia as the lucky country.

Also, one of Australia's biggest businesses is exporting education, oftentimes to Asians. Australian colleges and universities are amongst the best in the world, with Australians only leaving to seek funding or grants not available, usually due to the high level of competition for places on offer, in Australia

One of Australia's biggest problem in this modern age is the "brain drain" which sees Australian academics seek higher paid employment opportunities in other countries.

As to racism.... Really?

The OP should take a walk around any Australian city to see the extend of our nations multi ethnic culture, which is completely free to practice whatever customs and beliefs they wish to follow, without fear of prosecution or violence being committed on there persons, unlike most other countries in this ever shrinking world.

My conclusion... The OP has suffered some humiliation at the hands of a bronzed Anzac, and needs to lash out to compensate.

For those unfamiliar with the term Anzac, it stands for Australian and New Zealand army corps, a proud body of servicemen and women who have volunteered to selflessly go forth in almost every armed conflict the world has seem in the last one hundred and thirty years, even though they themselves have never been attacked (with the exception of a fews bombs on Darwin), to offer faithful support to both its allies and those unfairly treated by dictators and despots... A proud heritage to be cherished.

It could be that blackmirage2013 has a "see it dont see it" thing happening with his own self esteem.

Come out from behind the smoke and mirrors and tell us what happened to you, so we can all have a laugh.

Oh.... And for any kiwi readers, i don't mean to drag you in with the Anzac comment, but hey, you know the score

So, who let this idiot on the plane in the first place?

Maybe he for drunk during the flight

At least the Thais were forgiving

If that was England he would be facing serious charges

Posted

What if he turned out to be part-aboriginal? Wonder how the Aussie-bashers, racists and PC brigade would handle that can of worms. smile.png

If this is the condition he arrived in it will be no surprise as to the state he gets into when he is out on the town. Just another f'up accident waiting to happen. As far as the authorities are concerned they probably want him to spend his money first before he leaves. A hefty fine would have done the trick and sent a stronger message.

How come he was given excessive liquor on board? Was he already drunk prior to boarding? Who cleared his immegration and customs?

He's certainly had some session if it was only a domestic flight.

So, who let this idiot on the plane in the first place?

And why did the cabin crew allow him to drink so much alcohol of the flight?

Because like most cabin crew, they are useless.

Not true. I've been on a number of flights where the attendants have refused more alcohol, including business class.

Most airport checking and security staff won't allow you through if your clearly drunk. If you neck it down in the airport lounge or bar the you may get pulled at the boarding gate. Saw a drunken guy get removed from a connecting flight in Abu Dhabi for being drunk and misbehaving.

Wonder why this guy got away with it? Maybe had his own bottle stashed or something. The Thai police seem very kind, as do the hospital. Almost unusually so. No charges for groping a female member of the hospital's staff?

And then some posters wonder why some Thais look down on the foreigners......

Most, not all, Austrailans have a chip on their shoulder. They have an inferiority complex to Americans and Europeans due to their heritage as prisoners sent from Europe. They are jealous of them, and love to attend their schools just to gain credibility.

However many have come to accept their status and have evolved into good old blokes.

They now come to Asia hat in hand looking for opportunities to make money. Unfortunately, there are sooooo many scammers and exploiters from Australia, who don't care about Asians and look down on them as little yellow people.

To their face they act nice, behind their back, Australians are among the most racist people in the world.

Sounds like a pretty racist comment to me.

In this case you are dealing with a thug who should be deported.

However, Australia is one of the most multicultural countries in the world and a good number are of Asian background, including my family. So lighten up with your bigoted remarks.

Is it not interesting how people of the world are finding their identities in race, ethnicity, sexual behaviors, political parties, religions, etc., and in so doing "group" themselves in a stampede to claim the bottom of the ladder? What makes it interesting is that, if you were going to govern the planet, this is exactly what you would socially engineer, a controlled 'strength in number' affiliation illusion to tap into the primal instinct to belong. Then you pit the groups against each other for the honour at the bottom of the ladder and make sure to alternate ownership of the lowest rung by legislating weaker groups advantages they don't have to earn, in order to quell ambition, achievement, work ethic, and addict them to group entitlement expectations. This kills personal initiative and isolates the "groups" further at the bottom rung they have been conditioned to see as "nirvana" whilst incognizant of the "individuals" ascending the ladder in temporal alliances and ad hoc commitments of convenience across all lines they define for others.

Maybe he tipped well, and it might have even been voluntarily.

I know I shouldn`t, but when I saw the photo of the guy being kicked by a nurse and the part about him groping the staff, I went into a fit of laughter.

But all joking aside, the guy should have been instantly deported as an undesirable alien. Trash like that are not wanted by anybody, anywhere.

Don’t criticize someone, before you know the facts...........

Some medicines can give a weird effect, together with a little bit of an alcohol, it depends the person medical condition/allergic.

Some people get very aggressive from a tranquilizer, all medical doctors know this.

Looks like the nurse is giving the guy a nice kick.

Took the words right from my mouth. I am not defending an obnoxious tourist, but isn't kicking a man when he is down also extreme behavior?

Naa, not here...

I do not think she kicked him, looks more like she recoiled in horror. As I would have done.

Nearly all airlines will NOT allow you to drink your duty free on board, or open any bottle of anything considering the possible terrorism consequences. Nor would they keep serving you alcohol if you were even approaching this state. I agree with those who think that there was a medical or drug (legal or otherwise) problem as well as alcohol.

sorry but this topic is linked to alcohol not Australia.

The guy could have been Russian, Thai, a Brit teen, a Finnish, etc.

but he IS Australian... So where would you have him deported to? Carlsburg? Singhaburi? St. Corona?

You got that right. If this bloke was a legend before, he's a CHAMPION now!

Another quality tourist arrives. sad.png.pagespeed.ce.5zxzyGiJz0.png

LOL you beat me to it ! You would think a 39 year old guy would act with a little more decorum. Obviously a direct descendant of the ones sent to Botany Bay.
