I am British aged 62 and last December I obtained, from the Thai Embassy London, a Non-Immigrant Visa, Catagory O-A , No of entry M and hand written "Long Stay". Cost 125GBP and Enter Before 3 Dec 2014.

When I entered Thailand at Suvarnabhumi airport the arrivals immgration officer gave me a stamp "admitted 27 Dec 2013 until 26 Mar 2014" but wrongly hand wrote "non b" on the stamp.

This was not picked up until I tried to do my 90 day report. It has now been corrected to non O-A with the admitted until date stamp changed to 26 Dec 2014 and a further stamp of 26 Mar 2014 which I think refers to the date this correction was made. There is no admitted until stamp on a separate but attached piece of paper.

I have now received contradictory info from the London Embassy, Immigration at Samui and various friends. Can somebody tell me the following:

1) Do I need to get a re entry permit if I leave Thailand in May and return in August.

2) When I return in August do I need to do 90 day reporting.

3) If I leave Thailand and return just before my enter by date of 3 Dec 2014 how long can I expect to be allowed to stay and will I need to do any reporting.

All advice and opinion welcome.

You do not need a re-entry permit. Every time you leave and re-enter prior to Dec. 3rd 2014 you will get a one year entry. After Dec. 3rd you will need a re-entry permit to keep your last one year entry valid.

You do not need to make a 90 day report if you are not in the country for 90 days or more. You first report will be due 90 days after you enter the country.

1. No

2. Anytime you are in Thailand for a continuous 90 days you have to report. The 90 day clock starts on the day you enter

3. If you enter on or before 3 Dec 2014, you will get 1 year permission to stay and have to do 90 day reports. IF you want to leave and reenter during that year you have to purchase a re-entry permit to keep you permission to stay alive. Cost 100 baht single, 3800 baht multiple.

What is intended to have been said was 1,000 NOT 100!

Thanks for the advice. Can you tell me what you normally get when you make a 90 day report? When I went to do my first report they had to correct the previous wrong stamp. The correction included a date stamp of 26 Mar 2014. I was expecting another date stamp or attached paper with a date of about 26 Jun 2014 but got nothing. Any comments?
