Police 'electronic eyes' will be on watch soon

The launch of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's new public surveillance system struck a glitch yesterday when the high-speed internet connection linking the 10,000 cameras failed to perform. The high-speed internet service could not connect properly with the security camera network, a police source said.

However, technicians said the system will be fixed and ready just in time for the royal celebrations to be attended by many foreign monarchs or their representatives.

True Internet hosting 10,000 cameras??? Was that supposed to be a joke? :o:D:D

Thai government + internet / information technology = disaster.

My only guess is that the person planning this system is an expatriate or had studied abroad and just returned and did not realise that in Thailand “hi-speed Internet connection” does not mean 10 Gbit per second.

They probably installed the system with an inauguration date already planned even before work began. Result, FLOP!

If the connections required the telephone system, they'd have gotten the same reply as the tsunami drill got: NETWORK BUSY
