3 Districts In Phitsanulok Have Been Flooded

3 districts in Phitsanulok have been flooded, resulting in damage to more than 40,000 rai of farmland

More than 40,000 rai of farmer's plantations, or about 16,000 acres, have been flooded in Phitsanulok, and the provincial administration is prepared to use its 50-million baht disaster relief fund to help the victims.

Santi Krusuansombat (สันติ กรุสวนสมบัติ), the deputy governor of Phitsanulok, yesterday inspected the flood situation in Bang Rakam (บางระกำ) District where water from the Yom River has overflown into the Khui_muang (คุยม่วง) and Chumsaengsongkhram (ชุมแสงสงคราม) subdistricts. A large quantity of residents and farmlands have suffered damage.

The flood level is expected to decline in the presence of no further raining. In the meantime the provincial Irrigation office is working to disperse water from the Yom (ยม) river into the Nan (น่าน) river to help accelerate the decline of the flood level.

The deputy governor said 3 districts in the province were affected by the flood. Most of the areas consist of rice farms. 10,000 of these are in Phromphiram (พรหมพิราม) district, 9,000 rai in Muang (เมือง) district, and 35,000 in Bang Rakam.

Each district chief officer has been told to survey the damages and hand out 243 baht for each rai, to help with the cost of plant seeds. This money will be drawn from the 50 million baht of the province's disaster relief budget. The Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives will be more lenient on the loan repayment by farmers affected by the flood.
