where is tops?

Poorfarang If you go along the Chaweng beach road - around half way it is by the night plaza. I think the turning is where the ladyboys hang out dressed up in the evening (not that this is how I found it you understand!)

I am not sure that it is Tesco per se that is at fault here; rather, it seems to be the Thais working and managing the place. I chalk it up to the fact that it is done Thai-style.

My question is this: Is this an independant store with no oversight from overseas?

I have lodged my complaints( IN ENGLISH) as you guys suggested.Today I got 2 calls from TESCO from a person that can't even speak basic english.I got a friend of mine to tell them the problems.

Meanwhile here is a copy of reply I also received today. So it might be worthwhile lodging them.

Dear Valued Customer,

I was extremely concerned that our service. I am very sorry for the upset this must have caused.

I am sorry that you feel that the service you received fell short of the standard you expect and I am confident that your experience was an exception.

We pride ourselves on providing you with an excellent service each time you visit one of our stores. To make sure this happens, we thoroughly train all staff before they start to serve our customers. In order to maintain this high level of service, we also run regular refresher courses and training sessions to make sure you are always treated in a helpful and courteous way.

I have now told our Samui Store Manager, about your experience, and I can assure you that the matter will be fully investigated. This incident is so unlike our normal standard of service, and I am confident that when you visit our store again, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Best regards,

I was driving by tesco today and decided that I would pull into the lot and hit the bangkok bank atm. I went up the ramp and proceeded to turn right so I could park but some employee starting shouting and insisted that I go park in the back by homepro. I told him I just needed to use the atm and he said I couldnt go in there. While he is refusing me enterence 5-6 thais on motorbikes drive right past us and proceede to park with the hundreds of others in the usual spot. He didnt seem to mind them.

What a great system.

And why do they give you a stupid paper slip when you park your bike if they dont even check for one when you leave? I guess you are not saposed to leave with a bike unless you have a slip but they never even bother to ask for it so what is the point.
