rreddin
Well, if they think, they will get 60000, it must be from Isaan, because in Chiang Mai, yesterday, for their big rally, there were only about 15 people, at the Three Kings Monument, downtown Chiang Mai used to be a Red Stronghold So did Korat, but no longer. When they held their meeting to celebrate the murder of children, there were not that many and they were lucky not to get their butts handed to them by the locals who were pissed at their presence. The reds are diminishing fast, all that crap from the UDD is in fact just that..... crap. Unfortunately it would seem like violent crap and prepared to bring down the house if they don't get their type of 'democracy'. Well rubl, you are a long time yellow shirt supporter and I guess you are now rooting for the PRDC. Which means you do not want democracy in this country and you support the people who will bring down the house to get their appointed government. northernjohn
Suthep, secretary general of People's Democratic Reform Committee, will hold a meeting of PDRC leaders from across the country to map out the next move on national reform, at Lumpini Park on Saturday. 1000 baht he`ll declare a "final push," any takers? "The best predictor of future behaviour, is past behaviour" Yipes 2010 all over again.
northernjohn
From 500,000 to 60,000 in two days. Makes one wonder what tomorrow's tally will be like. Thank goodness Jatuporn's bluster generally runs at about ten times the speed of reality. I was hoping for a nice turnout in beautiful weather. Just as the court jester goes into his act a monsoon shows up from nowhere. As soon as he stops the monsoon stops. He starts the monsoon starts. Says the number one Abhisit, Suthep hater? The strange part about him is he will occasionally post some really good information on the Chiang Mai forum. For some reason he is completely missing the boat at the national level. I know that there was a lot of business owners who did not like Abhist. I wonder if it had any thing to do with the fact that when he was elected corruption was rising very fast and he managed to hold it. Now it is on the rise again. Let's see here now Yingluck was elected in August of 2011 screwed up the handling of the flood and kept saying give me six months. In the mean time the corruption started rising again. in 2013 it rose 2%. today she is still out of touch with reality. She is wide open to any thing that is corrupt. She doesn't believe it is corrupt because her brother said it was OK. It would be nice if the police confined the red shirts to their rally grounds but they all work for the same individual. For sure they will keep anti red shirt protestors out a lot better than they did keeping the red shirt's out of the anti government protests. Gee I wonder why?

The problem with those that oppose Thaksin is not that they view him as a menace to the country - there is a good case for that he is (although it has little to do with "corruption"). Rather, the issue is that they have allowed their loathing to rise to a level where they are willing to roll back all the hard-won democratic developments of the 90-ies and early 2000:s just to keep Thaksin or the PTP away from power. Mrgk, I appreciate you accept that Thaksin may be a menace to the country but respectfully, I disagree with several other aspects of your post. Corruption is indeed a major part of it: numerous aspects to this but I will state one - the difference between the anti-Thaksin protesters and the Thaksin clan and their supporters is that the former wish to address the corruption issue going forward, at least, that is what they say and thereafter it is subjective whether or not one believes them. Personally I think that if the protest movement has been built on that premise something good of it must come provided they are given a chance. The latter on the other hand totally deny that corruption exists but at the same time thrive on it to their own benefit. Allowing for some differences of opinion between us as to the precise facts there is still therein a world of a difference between what I would call simply 'good' and 'bad' intentions, at least as stated. The use of the term 'loathing' and I am reiterating my earlier post here, only serves to try and emotionalise one side of the two camps when even if accurate, it actually applies both ways. I would ask (but please don't try and provide an answer as I can get that better from history books) what all the 'hard-won democratic developments' you refer to precisely are and how they manifest themselves in this country's joke that some people (namely the incumbent but failed caretaker government) term a 'democracy'? Finally and in response to your expression, 'just to keep Thaksin of the PTP from power.' I would suggest that this is an honourable and well meaning goal that will benefit the country and its people as a whole and is not just a whim of certain individual families, which is precisely what remaining in power is for the Thaksin regime represents i.e. the whim and aspirations of one family only.
daboyz1
I suppose it's tough to get a big red crowd when they're not being paid. Thaksin must be running low on cash, or finally figured out it's a waste of money. He's probably building a nice guest house for his sister in one of his new adopted countries. gabruce
One interesting point here is that CAPO is denouncing the "instigation of violence" by the protestors after the shooting and killing on Tuesday. Does anyone remember CAPO denouncing anyone else for instigating violence against the protestors? I remember nothing. Another instance of bias?

Dogmatix
Is it true, as alleged in the Bkk Post, that National Police Chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew has defected and is no longer prepared to render total obéissance to Shin clan members? I wonder if the last cheque bounced. At least they should still be able to rely on Metropolitan Police Chief Pol Gen Kamonrit. The photograph of Thaksin pinning the insignia of his new rank on him in HK made his so nauseous to the opposition they wouldn't take him at any price. Dogmatix
If Adul has really defecated on defected from the Shinawatra family, we should expect to see spikes laid on all the major highways coming from Isaan and the North. No need to derail the trains. They derail spontaneously. It is starting to sound like the Wars of the Roses.

Perhaps that was the government's shrewd strategy - to make sure they had no money for the next rice planting, so that they would have no choice but to take the work offered as rent-a-mob. We had the excuse before it even started ''It's just a rehearsal' Jatuporn started saying when he realized the numbers would be far below his boasts, even when they rented all those Burmese to get more people and they are all paid to be there this is the best they can do. And notice how widely spaced out they are in many of the tv shots to try and make it look like there are more people than there really are. What is interesting though is that you equate 'yellow shirt / PDRC' supporter with 'do not want democracy'. Slightly disappointed you didn't mention 'democracy = election', but never mind. I saw k. Jatuporn on television today. Big banner with slightly off (justice) scales. Lots of Thaksin pictures, red-shirts with Yingluck/Thaksin. I guess that means that many there want justice to be done and seen done on the criminal displayed and his darling sister.
