About half of motorbike deaths happen at speeds up to 40 MPH, at intersections and turning. The other half are going 55mph or more. Speed does kill, but even at 30mph you have a good chance of getting fatally hit. Of course going much faster increases the chance of death if hit or hitting something. Most accidents happen because the rider is inexperienced or doesn't know the roads.
