Thousands of police and troops for redshirt rally

Been watching this circus on Asia Update of and on all day.

Why is Nattawut the main speaker in this rally? I thought Jatuporn was the head guy now?

I also had the understanding that govt ministers (even caretaker) were not allowed to speak at a gathering like this. Or is that an ISA thing that does not cover this area?

The latest story over on the BP website has a picture of three UDD monks on stage. Where are all those Red posters who have been demanding the punishment of monks who get involved in politics?

Just watched Ch11 news report from a helicopter above the rally. They were warning people to use other roads as traffic had come to a complete standstill on the Phuthamonton bridge. The reporter said that many protesters were yet to reach the site because of this. A security advisor at the site said that more than 100,000 were already at the site.

Those posting photos earlier in the day, and showing 2010 clips of the UDD paying 2,000 Baht for members who had provided transport for others, may be fooling yourselves, but anyone can see this is a huge rally.

Does someone else notice that all the red " spots" in the picture are just that, red spots without a head or face, while the other colored shirts clearly can be seen to have a human head ?

photo shop, a reds best friend.......also why is this later shot a lot brighter then one and hour earlier.......could the reds be do touch ups to try to save face

Are you talking about these Monks? I would have to say at least one of them is a very avid fan of POO and her golf caddy.

Thai Wife brother is a Thai Kick boxer and when I showed him the photo, he could not stop laughing

I asked him why

He said they have left them selves open for the most serious Kick boxing mistake any apponent can make, for a thunder kick

when I asked him what he meant .he walked away laughing

A side direct kick between the legs, .............. game over

Ooh I could feel the pain as I visualised his words

Haha.

Muay Thai boxing is completely different to street fighting.

someone launches a straight leg kick at you, all you do is grab their ankle with your hand and continue to pull the leg upwards and the attacker flips onto his back in a second and you have him on the ground and defenseless. Or you can simply use your forearm to parry the kick by placing it under his ankle and continue pushing the leg up.

These fruitcakes wouldn't stand a chance in a no rules street fight..... It is a bit different to what they are used to, they can only win with several onto one person, that is Thai style street fighting... In the UK they wouldn't stand a chance in a one on one.

Jesus, shut up you pair of complete plonkers. 'Street fighting' Straight leg kick' get a grip for Christ sake, are you 5 years old?

I think they just watched a Steven Segal movie and had too many drinks before the posting clap2.gif

A lot of photo shop going on today, apparently.

Unfortunately Web Fact and Lite Beer were off today so dint get the usual updates from Richard Barrow.

Be careful of photoshopped & old pics pretending to be today's Red Shirt rally. This one's doing the rounds #Thailand pic.twitter.com/n9bMX5KBxv

The top photo is so badly doctored you should be banned for trying to fraudulently pass it as real. Even the sky has been badly photoshopped, lets not start on the crowd scene.

The bottom photo is from the Bangkok post, you should know better than that Rich Teacher! There is no where near as many people as you think. The bottom photo is a classic example. Two crowds separated by the water to make the eye start believing it is big. The crowd themselves on each side maybe 20-30 deep. Probably 5-7000 total.

You are talking out of your A888 as usual.

Why come on here trying to lie yet again.... we are NOT stupid people like yourself.

Helicopters and news reports.... cheesy.gif

Walter Mitty of the UDD.

That photo is basicall y this photo taken from the stage and from a clever angle to try to make the crowd look bigger from an 'across shot' situation.

10151264_803281516351459_187744284982590

Don't make me laugh.

If you look at your photo and count 100 people and then transfer that block across your photo and it will show no more than 2000 people, same as the true ariel shot of a very weak and wanky turnout.

Do you seriously think we are as stupid as you are?

I have monitored you for a while now and found that you come on here daily spouting lie after lie to cement your opinion and you use the weakest of evidence to support yourself.

Just admit it..... The reds have NO real support.

For the record.... here is another picture, taken in daylight (so around the same time as the other one at 17.10

This was put out by Thaksin's stupid son on his facebook.... below the picture I will explain the facts.

10150564_658551440859959_1731631058_n.jp

Looks impressive eh?????

It was photoshopped by the PDRC supporters and sent to Thaksins son, to take the piss out of him, and the silly idiot published it on his facebook.

He is too stupid to know that the set up is totally different.

This is the future PM of Thailand if they continue to let buffalo vote in total idiots.

What a complete knob.

Actually you are totally correct.

Government ministers are not allowed to be involved in any protests or political movements.

That is why Suthep had to resign his position before getting on the stage, and once all the Dems resigned en masse.. they were allowed to join the protests.

The PTP have sent ministers several times to support these red rallies, most notable was Churaporn (interior minister) who actually called up 1 million reds to take up arms and attack the PDRC, the courts and the army. It is totally illegal.

Before anyone says that they are not ministers because parliament is dissolved.... they are still government ministers in a caretaker role.... they still run 'ministries' and so they are 'ministers'.

But with the PTP.... they are above EVERY LAW in the land.

Speak out against them and their terrorist wing will bomb your mother's house and blow up your children.

My Mia noi comes from a supposedly staunch red shirt village in Issan , that in the past has always sent many people to rally's

for 500bt each but since most of the villagers have been driven into near bankruptcy by the rice pledging scam and other broken promises , and the rich local redshirt organisers have issued threats , the locals are now reluctant to go they are seeing the light but they fear intimidation and violence and jao por influence as well .

My mianoi always thought taksin and the redshirt thing was B/S but now her family believe her opinion , but they are scared ....

I shouldn't worry too much, I think the red shirt time is fast running out.

Jatuporn and Nattawut will be put in prison very soon and they won't get out for a very long time (if ever).

This government will topple and an anti-thaksin regime government will be installed, then the control goes over to them.

The police will be shaken up and the government will declare war on the red shirt movement and probably round up all the leaders, and crush what is left.

I would imagine the movement will be officially outlawed as a terrorist organization, and the rest of them will run away and hide in the jungle.

Your mia noi's village will be safe from their intimidation.

Pretty harsh

But it sounds like a good plan to me.

the question I have in my mind is I wonder if Thaksin will keep Jatuporn and Nattawut on the pay roll when they are in jail or in Dubai?

No way.... Once people are no good for him, and become non-productive for his agenda, he will cut them off in a heartbeat.

Thaksin is a ruthless man hiding behind a benevolent facade... much in the same way as the Kim's of North Korea.

Jatuporn and nattawut are completely dispensable as far as Thaksin is concerned, and may even become a liability to Thaksin should they be locked up, and they have too much information such would make him feel a bit uncomfortable,..... he may even feel the need that they must disappear altogether.

If I were them.... Dubai would be the last place they should go... I think they would disappear a lot quicker there.

The last thing Thaksin wants is a load of people on the run from Thai justice to start huddling around him. It would be like painting a bug red arrow in the sand pointing straight at him, and this guy not only has an islamic fatwa on his head, but also plenty of people from Thailand would like to see him dead.

He is well aware of this... he knows only too well that there are many people who hate him and have the means to have him removed from the world, all they need is a precise location at any one time.

I live on Barommaratchachonnanee Rd. between Sai 3 and Sai 4. Heard some music in the afternoon and evening and what was apparently fireworks. By approx. 22:00 hrs everything had turned quiet over there. Traffic outside running smoothly now. If there were another 700.000 still stuck on their way to the protest site (entrance via Sai 4) it would be a lot more action.

speaking to many thais on the street

They say it's time for the Yingluck government to go and stop all the thaksin corruption.

I doubt it except for the middle class Chinese whistle blowers. The Thai people driving taxis and selling street food and lottery tickets are mostly from Isaan and the North. I am sure they are whistling a different tune.

Corruption in Thailand is not confined to the Shinawatras. It is pervasive and includes Suthep and his financial and political backers.

Behind that photo is one of the reasons why the PT/Reds have lost support with my Isaan relative and friends. The PT government through the education department edict that all teachers had to undertake mandatory training with one specific Buddhist sect. Through this the PT government is politicizing Buddhism.

Ooooh don't leave us hanging like that. Find out what the particular sect of Buddhism is and what temple it is spreading from, it could be very interesting who the connections might be (thinks of monks with private jets etc).

dcutman : thanks for the photo, and there was me thinking one of the main things a monk was to try and achieve was a lack of 'attachment'. How funny.

Do the reds on TV who condoned the beating of the monk last week for getting involved with politics think these monks on the red stage should be beaten as well?

Please do not use, red and think in the same sentence, Quote. Do the reds on TV who condoned the beating of the monk last week for getting involved with politics think these monks on the red stage should be beaten as well? unquote. it's reflects badly on your better judgement.

no i did not intend to leave anyone hanging, trying to stay on topic - but as you asked

This by a Buddhist monk / historian

"However, because of the politics in the Thai Sangha and the connection with some powerful politicians and businessmen, the leader of Dhammakaya has managed to keep his show going for a long time now. Several years ago, during the scandal with property and money at Wat Dhammakaya, the Sangharaja Somdet Nyanasamvara Thera has apparently signed a document accusing Phra Dhammachayo of a Parajika (disrobing) offense:"

Anybody seen any very recent photos or detailed reports of the red gathering today?

I am actually surprised that there has been nothing in any of the media.

I have a feeling the media are being kept away from this event. Maybe they don't want anything reported about low turnout despite the money offered.

Either that or the reporters are too frightened to go near the place for fear they are intimidated and threatened with having their mum's houses bombed.

There is the other reason that reporters tend to die while covering the reds.

Maybe though it is the first theory.... The army and police are keeping them from reporting the sheer lack of support for the UDD.

Then what was all that coverage on TV all day yesterday about. Yep guess there is a media block but just at your house.

Well at least the Thai news media seem to be referencing body count as the mobil/living ones on the streets. Its when the casualities are the head count referenced, that Thailand and those that live here are in trouble. We just have to look for that silver lining sometimes and hope against hope that it remains.

Odd then, that they didn't turn up yesterday isn't it? It seems like a good opportunity to show support whilst also having a captive audience for vending lottery tickets and street food.

I wonder if you might overestimate their support.

What is odd to me, and you can see from my post history that I'm far from a red supporter, that there seems to be a complete media block. ThaiVisa's Thailand live had his last update at 9.15am, where it should have been now at it's 3 page already, given there was a PDRC rally today.

It looks that they want us to believe that there is no red shirt rally at all going on today. Almost the same as the what the Isaan people get fed about the PDRC rallies.

So why not show us pictures to see if it's low or high turnout ?

I feel more terrorized from greedy Bangkok people and conservative nationalists.

May Buddha save us all!

Tom

So from 500.000 paid red shirts 3 days ago down to 200.000 yesterday and now 700.000! The guy who do their counting probably need a calculator to add 10 + 10.

No matter HOW MANY-------- they are red shirts. This is a serious rally ----not a Suthep play around-------- Big trouble for all of us

May Buddha protect you allwai2.gif

What my Isaan relatives who work in BKK are telling me is:

  • That they are "upset" at the reds and PT.
  • They are too busy trying to work extra shifts so that their families have the money to plant the next crop and to buy school uniforms for the kids because the government had not paid the families for their rice.
  • They are sick of being insulted by governments claiming that they have reduced poverty in Isaan when it is the money that they have earned that is the major factor.
  • That the only policy that had helped the Isaan economy was the flood mitigation for BKK that drove companies to relocate upcountry
