sfokevin
Does Blue Cross Clinic on Wichayanon Rd sell HIV prescription drugs and do viral load blood testing similar to the Blue Cross clinic in Bangkok? If not where can discounted HIV related drugs be purchased (with a doctors prescription) in Chiang Mai? Much Thanks
PMNL
They do blood test, viral load, genotype(drug resistance). I don't think they dispense meds though. You can get generic ones at government hospital for a very good price. Most of the private hospital dispense them at very high cost. ChiangmaiSteven
I now go to Dr. Morgan's clinic in Hangdong Road. Excellent GP-type service and she is very knowledgable about HIV treatment. Medication (generic) is about 40% less expensive than that which was dispensed by Rajavej Hospital.

It is always helpful to others to ensure that "claims" made in a post are accurate ! As is now belatedly admitted the said "Blue Cross" does not exist ! All Government hospitals provide generic medication at lower cost, Insist on brand names and pay more !
PMNL
You have to be their patient though can not just get a prescription from anywhere to go buy ARV meds at hospital. The regimen they use at government hospital most likely to be 2 or 3 line drug as those are available locally made. The current first line recommendation up to date I do believe it's called Atripla, can be found as brand name and generic, which is not available at most gov hospital. You can try and find out for yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

FYI - Atripla can be found at the Bangkok Thai Red Cross AIDS Research Centre Pharmacy 29. TDF 300 mg + FTV 200 mg + EFV 600 mg (Original) Trade Name: ATRIPLA Price/Tablet: 88 THB Price/Bottle: 2,640 THB (30 tab) http://www.adamslove.org/en-d.php?id=73 Edited April 9, 2014 by sfokevin
