Hello,

I am facing some problems with my stay in Thailand to work and I cannot find solutions.

I will try to explain it as simple as possible.

- I work for a foreign (French) company near Bangkok and I am French as well.

- I got a single entry visa on the 16th of January, 2014 (non immigrant B which will expire on the 15th of April).

- I arrived in Thailand on the 25th of January.

- I got a work permit on the 6th of February, which is consequently valid for one year.

- I left Thailand and went to Cambodia the 5th of April and went back to Thailand on the 7th of April.

By leaving Thailand, I thought it was possible to renew my visa directly at the immigration office. But apparently it is not possible so I got a stamp for 30 days and I will have to leave Thailand on the 6th of May (expect if I find a solution).

I have several questions:

- the most important one: regarding this situation, what are all steps I will have to do to stay in Thailand until the end of August?

- how can I renew or extend my visa? Do I have to go out of the country?

- how does a "visa run" work? I do not understand how it works whereas it seems simple. But I do not know which documents I need to get/complete.

- do I need to get a multiple entry visa to stay longer?

- do I need to go out of the country every 3 months or every month?

This situation is very complex and obscur. I lack of support and my company does not really help me...

Thank you very much.

Not a complex situation and your "Company " should have provided advice.

The Company will now have to provide the documentation necessary to obtain another visa .

Speak to your companies HR department.

I know but the Thai HR department is not very skilled and does not know how to do it.

I prefer obtaining some information from my side and then double check with them.

If you could share me some details, it could be great.

Thank you.

Here is the list of required paperwork:

http://www.mfa.go.th/main/en/services/123/15388-Non-Immigrant-Visa-%22B%22-(for-Business-and.html

Go to Penang with this paperwork and your WP (which should have 9 months or more remaining validity, you should get a One Year Multiple Entry Non Immigramt 'B' Visa.

You then need to leave/re-enter Thailand at least every 90 days (Border Run).

If both you/your company meet the criteriae in the attached document below, then you can get a Single Entry Non Immigrant 'B.

45-30 days before the expiry of this Permission to Stay you can then apply to Extend your Permission to Stay based on Working in the Kingdom of Thailand at your local Thai Immigration Dept.

You need all the paperwork in this attached document.
