Non O visa/workpermit renewal

Featured Replies

Hello all

I arrived in Thailand on a Non immigrant O (married to Thai national) multiple entry visa in March last year. After doing a couple of border runs I eventually got a job, which also supplied me with a work permit. My visa was extended due to my working legally untill the end of April this year. I have been told that I have to go and sort out my visa again. I am a bit confused......

Surely it is just a case of getting a letter from my employer stating that I am working legally and that I have the 40,000 per month (or whatever the figure is) to meet the requirements for the extension of visa, based on my work permit. I am thinking that it will NOT be necessary for me to leave the country again.....but I am constantly second guessing myself. It would make sense that all I woul have to do is go to my local immigration office (Pathumtani) with the correct paperwork and they would simply give me another extension. Is it that easy?

Thanks in advance.

Your visa was not extended you obtained an extension of stay.

All you need to do is apply for another extension of stay based upon marriage at immigration. You do not need a new visa.

You only need to prove an income of 40K baht or more by showing tax payments and your work permit (as proof of working legally). Some immigration offices may want additional documents. I suggest you go to your immigration office to find out what their requirements are.

Thanks, this is what I thought was the case. Seems pretty straight forward really. Thanks for clearing it up.

Cheers to all.
