21 year old man accused of sexually assaulting 74 year old woman in East Pattaya

PATTAYA: -- On Thursday afternoon Nongprue Police were called to a small village backing onto the Railroad close to Soi Kao Noi to investigate reports that villagers had detained a man accused of sexually assaulting a 74 year old woman.

The suspect attempted to escape following the alleged assault but Khun Nantawoot aged 21 was eventually detained. He appeared to be in an incoherent state which may have been the result of excess alcohol or possible use of narcotics according to Police.

The 74 year old victim, who was understandably shocked and very distressed, was escorted to Hospital where medics will decide if an assault took place and then send a report to Police for evidential purposes.

A Neighbor of the victim, Khun Seemueng aged 47, earlier heard her cries and went to investigate and saw that her front door was locked from the outside. She was eventually rescued from the locked room, situated behind Chockchai Garden Homes 7-8 off Soi Kao Noi, and claimed that the man had asked if the pair could go inside her room to watch TV.

"and claimed that the man had asked if the pair could go inside her room to watch TV."

Ah, that old chestnut.

Drug and alcohol counciling and some therapy to rehabilitate, that's what this guy needs. thumbsup.gif

This guy needs to be put to sleep like a vet does to a sick dog, as this is what he is !

Yep! Normal behaviour being quite the opposite in Pattaya: a 74 year-old man sexually assaulting a 21 year-old woman... tongue.png

You can't really classify that as assault when a price has been agreed on and money has changed hands....

Let's have a trial first, shall we?

You know, evidence ?testimony? Stuff like that ?

Do some trolls people just sit behind their keyboards every night waiting for a member of the hang-em-high crowd to post something? What would we do without somebody to highlight these hideous offenders for us? TV definitely needs its own online courtroom so this can't continue to happen. We'll get all the evidence & testimony "stuff" done and out of the way right here so members can't keep getting away with this, the monitors can have a well-earned rest from their noble labors, and TV can rejoin civilized humanity!

Really, have comments posted here on TV EVER resulted in someone in Thailand EVER being punished without trial? Is there some fear that they EVER could or will? If not, then why the incessant "naughty, naughty!" nonsense? I think we all know about right to fair trial. Really I do.

Doubt there will be a trial, at least a fair one here - Guilty until proven innocent.

No one is suggesting anything of the sort regarding Thailand and fair trials but there ARE people who need guidance in these matters. People like yourself, hawker who wish to maintain its important for some to register a certain tone of manly indignation.

I hope that my comment won't cause you to drop your pretences in favour of a more liberal attitude toward incitement to lynching.

Do carry on with your logical farrago and lead is to accept that the hang 'em high crowd does indeed have a right to expunge the pangs of boredom and weariness I feel with outbursts of reactive such as yours.

Next on my hit list would be the hit-hungry RIP maven.

"Incitement to lynching". cheesy.gif Yes, why who knows how many incidents of TV readers running out to break open the jailhouse and hang the hapless occupants have taken place over the years!! You do have a way with words, and did manage to rephrase simple freedom of speech into the much higher wordcount (and more sinister sounding) "right to expunge the pangs of boredom and weariness I feel with outbursts of reactive".

"Incitement to lynching". Laughably hyperbolic. ...More like "catnip to trolls". There must be a watch rotation, so someone's always on duty to catch these "reactive outbursts". w00t.gif

Hawker our Thai Visa free speech monitor counter-attacks for hyperbolic before he indeed DOES position himself as one of these "yeah but" moralists. Hawker also appears to have serious issues with the odd predictive text error.

His insistence on shouting "FIRE" in the crowded theatre here reveals an ideological agenda all too prevalent in internet discussions of this nature.

Glib use of one inalienable right to supersede another might be disturbing if not for there being at least one incident of unjust and unfounded accusation (or worse) in everyone's life.

There needs to be a process.

There needs to be some kind of hearing prior to judgement.

Evidence must be presented and judged.

Upon proof of the charge through evidence and testimony the accused is convicted.

The judge then imposes a penalty.

The media is currently conditioning and legitimizing extra-judicial punishment on a daily basis. Police shootings, beatings, taxe rings, pepper-spraying, tight-cuffing and "plea-bargaining" into the public consciousness at every level.

You can bet your sweet bippy that I and many others are still the majority when it comes to nipping such authoritarian trends in the bud.

It comes as no surprise that miserable, feeble-minded wretches such as this alleged rapist are a popular target. Rarely is it suggested for example that a wealthy or influential offender be punished in this regard. Long time residents can site hundreds of such cases.

Much to your credit, but to the alarm of most fair-minded observers you seem to be rather willing to surf the rising wave of displacement of due process with your own petty hyperbole regarding the storming of jails when, in fact I spoke only of "incitement"

Now, let's have another one of those "pot/kettle", "tempest in a teapot" or ad hominem thingies shall we ? Or a rousing attack on the spelling or grammar or diction of this post.

Me?

Just keeping my chops up there, hawker.

My my. Struck a nerve did I? You do get the prize for word count. No contest. Well done.

You know, I actually think it's one of you that posts these hang 'em high messages; 'have to have 'em so you can keep your self-righteous rants going. No one's really disputing the right to due process, but acknowledging that would deprive you of your demonizing fun, so on with the show.

I obviously should have included your "word-count" finger wagging there, Hawker. But then again we were perilously close to the 750 word limit that restricts most columnists from examining anything of real significance in any sort of detail.

I will take note of your preference for "short is sweet", sound bite-ish tweet-like posts of the web's good ol' "Brevity is the soul of wit" crowd.

I do however wish that they'd take their own advice (another good ol' web-debater canard ;-) . . . . . . I do wish they'd take their own advice to its logical finale.

The end result would save us all from the pained and strained quips and quirps they try to jamb into that nasty 140-character format that tries in vain to bring out the Noël Coward in us all.

(*burp*)

Ooooops, there's me songtheaw
