Just saw this text on fb with a photo of my son. I used thai2english.com for translation. It stated that ...ai...is a a derogative statement. So can somebody tell me if this is true in the context or that maybe it is meant in a funny way. An uncle of him wrote it.

It's must probably meant in a funny way. It's a way close friends talk together (using ไอ้ อี).

Nothing derogatory here. The pronoun is used by adults to address young boys and shows acquaintance. It only shows contempt when used between men.
