New Thailand CN Map V. 2013.40 Dual Displays Thai

Featured Replies

I just put the newest Thailand city navigator 2013.40 map on my nuvi 1250, and it displays in Thai sometimes. I have all the language settings to English, and the map itself displays in English, as do most other parts of the map and searches. But, when I do certain searches all the results come up in Thai only.

Anybody have this issue? I kinda like the way they did the separate English/Thai maps now, that seemed like s better system. I'll probably just end up using the old map if I can't clear up this issue.

It may depend on the source of this map. Till now this map version in English wasn't downloadable from garmin.co.th. The only way to get the latest map in English, was through ESRI.
I suspect you have the DUO map, and that's not exactly right.

From now on, you can place an order with the nearest authorized Garmin dealer, and you should get the map update within 5-14 days.

As the nuvi 1250 was the base model i dont think it was made to have dual language maps installed but they do work. You just need to change the way you search for things. If you use the built in menus "where to?/points of interest/food and drink/pizza" for example, you will get results in thai. If you use "where to?/points of interest/food and drink/all food" and then type in the word "pizza" you will get results in English!

I tried that, and it did work.

One strange thing it does though..... I do like to use these "nostra" poi's (previously cdg guide). When I go to "points of interest" and then type in "nostra", I get the results in Thai :( Not sure how to search nostra and get the English results.

I wonder if a firmware update would cure it? I have not had luck with even finding firmware. I suppose I would be too scared to try it anyway.

I agree with you though. My North America map works perfect, even with junction view, so I think it is a (perhaps incurable) issue with the dual language as you say. I suppose if it bugs me, I should just pony up and get a new unit :)

Thanks for the help/response!

Mine is a Thai nuvi1250, software is 2.50 if that helps. There is no update as its now discontinued.

I have the 2.40 firmware. How can I get my hands on the 2.50?

The 1250 is not listed anymore on the firmware upgrade page. Is it a thai unit?

You have to connect your device to your pc before you will be offered the update. Go to GPS society/support/downloads login then connect your nuvi and click on "my device information" then "update map" then you should see the "update software" button. Click that and you should see 2.50 listed.

Thanks again. I thought gps society was a shop, kinda like gadet trend (where I bought my unit), so I never bothered with it. Seems it is the official site for Thai GPS.

I did get the 2.50 on my unit, all the same issues still there though, as I kinda knew based on your reports. As you guys both mentioned, the dual maps just don't function properly on the older units, yet they still do work for the most part.

Regards.
