Red shirts to gather on eve of court verdict on Yingluck's status

BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) will hold a mass rally of red shirts one day before the Constitutional Court delivers its verdict on whether Yingluck Shinawatra has lost her status as caretaker PM.

The court decision will determine Yingluck's role in the transfer of Thawil Pliensri, the former National Security Council (NSC) chief.

Red-shirt leader Tida Thawornseth said the date of the rally would be called when the Constitutional Court announces "judgement day".

The rally would be peaceful and weapons-free, she said.

The former UDD chair said she believed the Constitutional Court, the National Anti-Corruption Commis-sion and the Election Commission had already made their decisions in the cases against Yingluck.

She accused the agencies of holding double-standards, which she said was a potential cause of political chaos. If the prime minister was found guilty, the UDD would rise in a struggle which would be heightened to achieve victory, she added.

Tida also asked why the EC and the Constitutional Court had not taken legal action against People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban for having admitted in his speech he had successfully engineered the nullification of the February 2 election.

Suthep also declared he would obstruct an election in every way, indicating that he and the PDRC had impeded democracy, she said.

She called for the EC to hold a clean and fair election and not use delaying tactics in the hope of bringing about chaos.

An election was the only way out for the country, Tida added.

Meanwhile Protesters of the PDRC marched yesterday along a designated route in the capital to invite Bangkok people to join their campaign for the ousting of the so-called Thaksin regime and for reforms.

They moved from the statue of King Rama 6 in front of Lumpini Park at 10.20am. They then marched along Narathiwat Ratchanakarin, Sathorn, Suan Phlu, Nang Linchi, Chan and Charoen Krung roads to Asiatique, the riverfront shopping complex.

Leading them in the march were PDRC leader Suthep, Chumpol Julasai, Nathapol Teepsuwan, Putthipong Punnakant, Sakolthi Pattiyakul and Akanat Promphan.

PDRC guards were deployed at points along the route to provide security.

They might get a bit of a turn out this time. Positions up for grabs - Lets be realistic even the prominent Red leader Ko Tee said that they were positioning themselves for the changed situation in his dummy spit following his public announcement of confidential policies.

Does she have any idea whatsoever?..........this statement is a contradiction in itself.

That can be scuppered easily by the NACC and the CC refusing to issue a date on the ruling..... Just release the ruling without any warning.

Job done.

Also Thida claims that Suthep admitted on stage that he successfully engineered the nullification of the election and impeded democracy.

Strange that nobody has heard of any such speech.... wouldn't Khaosod be all over that?

Again... lie after lie to provoke a violent response from the shit slinging monkeys.

Thida.... Prepare for prison when the power shift comes.

I don't quite follow her argument here...! Suthep specifically set out to scupper the election; why would he have any problems admitting that he succeeded in that aim? As for impeding democracy, you cannot impede something that isn't there in the first place...!!

...ok, but will there be poop, ready to be slung about by the red-shirted feces brigade?

Probably not - it all depends on who is doing the reporting.

Why is it that you never make any serious contribution to any of the threads on this forum, but instead spew forth sound bites which obviously come straight out of the Red Book. Could it possibly be that you have a Red wife pulling your strings....!?

There is currently no democracy in Thailand whatsoever, only sweeping dictatorship and threats against anyone who gets in its way; refer to the farmers in the North who are being threatened by senior people in the PTP to keep quite, and not make waves, otherwise they will never get paid ... that is, they will not get paid for goods which they provided up front in good faith...!!

Thida said that their rallies would be "heightened"; what are we to make of that? I think that many of us know what she is suggesting, but what she fails to recognize is that there are no longer thousands of people in the North ready to die for their leader and the continuation of the rape of Thai economy.

Double standards? You mean like the continuation of the bail of Jatuporn and Nattawut despite clear evidence of their breach of bail conditions...?!

If you wish to be taken seriously, you have to come up with sound arguments, but of course, I realize your difficulty there, since there are no potential defensive arguments for this corrupt regime, which is why you are going to have to look for someone else to support in the very near future...!!

"dictatorships, regimes, rape of the Thai economy"

You do not half spout some rubbish. Have you a PDRC wife pulling your strings?. I have worked in countries with military governments, regimes etc and Thailand is not Syria yet. Nor will it be.

weapons free, will the red leaders offer to resign if any weapons are found, I doubt it as they will be counting on their sheeple to do just that, start violence and intimidation as they usually do or maybe they will just sh*t in their hands and throw it showing their real mentallity.

Protestors of the PDRC? I wish there were such a groupbiggrin.png , I would join if I could do so without being thrown out of the country!

I was rudely awoken Sunday morning in Silom by the voice of some clown using a bullhorn to rally his troops for this ridiculous march. Would that not constitute disturbing the peace? This "camp out" that they have going on over in Lumpini Park is accomplishing absolutely nothing right now other than:

1) providing cheap housing for the few out of towners that linger about as they likely have nothing better to do.

and

2) likely destroying what was once a very nice park. (I'm speculating here of course, I don't dare wander over in fear of being linked to these follies...er, I mean rallies........

speculating and thinking about you you you..is was you meant to say ..wai.gif
