WonnabeBiker
Hi, I'm not a citizen and haven't been in California since May 2005. But the lots I have in escrow are in that state. The lots had been bought more than 6 years prior to getting married in CHINA. Just got an e-mail from the girl handling escrow, explaining "CA is a community property state"... => instant 50% equity for any spouse. Well, how come I kept all real estate without even a fight from a prior marriage which had taken place in CA and surviced the cA divorce years later?!? Am not getting it. So now California as the location of property trumps a non resident alien's marriage in China? Mmm, interesting. Any comments or known facts? I feel like I just entered the Twilight Zone.
