Elevators at BTS stations?

Not a good idea as BKK is far away for any proper preparation for wheelchairs. Pavements become obstacles, and not many toilets for handicapped people in wheel chairs around either, unless you want to stay with the newer shopping malls only, better carefully plan your trip.

Bangkok is a very bad place for a wheelchair bound person. I would avoid.

If using those folded wheechair (the manual one), I think should be fine, as it can be keep in the back of the taxi.

I think you are underestimating the problem.. Just getting to the taxi will be hard. I can walk, but getting around is hard because of the clutter and obstacles. If you are able to use taxis, stick with them instead of the BTS which is usually rammed.

FYI, these elevators are secured, and are not accessible to the public without a security guard's assistance. So you'll need to find a security guard to help you. From the platform level there may only be a single guard on duty - they used to have two, or may have two at peak travel times, so he'll have to radio for assistance as he cannot leave the platform unattended. Honestly not sure how it works from the street? Maybe you press some sort of request button, and also not sure how they handle ticketing as the elevator is inside the ticket gates on the mezzanine level.

This is the page that you need, it has all the info that you require;

http://www.bts.co.th/corporate/en/02-system-safety02-3-2.aspx

Also, by clicking on the specific station on this map it will show you exactly where the elevator is located at street level thus making your route to station more direct,

I'm stunned as people clearly don't know what they are talking about. No offense, but it seems you are writing about something you never experienced.

The only stations with security locked elevators are Siam, Asok, Chong Nonsi and Mo chit. For the rest, not all the stations have elevators, and if they have, everybody can take them.

On the side note, elevator to the platform at chongnonsi doesn't work right now.

My Mum was visiting me a few weeks ago and we tried to use the Asok Elevator from street level as she was suffering with Sciatica. There is a call button with intercom at the elevator but we waited at least 5 mins and nobody answered so gave up in the end and slowly took the stairs.
