April 28, 201412 yr Hi all, My Thai wife and I are planning to visit Australia later this year, we wish to go for for 3 months. We've been legally married for 10 years and my wife has had 2 previous visas to Australia several years ago. Currently which is the appropiate form for her? One other thing, there's no day or month in her Thai passport, only the year she was born. We've been to several government offices in Bangkok and up north where she came from and they all say there's nothing they can do about it because she doesn't have a birth certificate and as she's 58 yo the records if any have probably been destroyed. She was once told at Melbourne Airport that it has to be fixed but here no one is prepared to do anything about it. She has been through several other immigration check points including her first trip to Melbourne and nothing was said about it. Cheers.
April 29, 201412 yr Author That's the point krisb the DOB on her passport and ID are the same, ** / ** / 1956. I don't even know how she has an ID. Her mother told her she was born on 26 November 1956. Her former primary school teacher who still lives in her village found a record in tatters which states her DOB is ** November 1954. The head master at her old school told me that they're slowly getting all they're old records on a data base but many are either very faded or been destroyed by age.or water damaged..
April 30, 201412 yr The tourist visa is subclass 600 on form 1419. Don't worry about the DOB on her passport. If they don't know the day and month, most places input 0101 but it's no biggie. If she gets granted the visa, she isn't going to be refused entry on something as trivial as that. Just an over officious Immi officer having a bad day methinks.
