April 28, 201412 yr Hi, 12th March I went to apply for my yearly marriage extension. Usually the years before it took 3 to 4 weeks, this year however so far no news yet ? Any others who've been waiting longer then the years before ? Could it have something to do with the political saga and our officials are working in slow mode ?
April 28, 201412 yr If you are living within the Bangkok immigration region it could be because to the shut down at Cheang Wattana because of the protests. What does you immigration office have to say about it since you have gone over the normal 30 day under consideration period.
April 28, 201412 yr Author It's Hadyai region who handles our application. Immigration blamed it on Songkran which I think is nonsense since the other years, always had it back before Songkran. Never took longer then 4 weeks, so just wondering here Edited April 28, 201412 yr by likewise
April 28, 201412 yr It could be the boss that can sign off on the extension was on an extended holiday. Mine wasn't ready a few years ago on my report back date because the boss in Korat had been out of the office. They gave me another 15 days but the approval (shown on small stamp below extension stamp) was done on a Sunday 4 days after they gave me15 days more. Most of mine have been approved well before the 30 days was up. Last year it was approved 8 days after I did my application.
April 28, 201412 yr Author Same here usually has always been ready before the report back date. Going to pay them a visit this week and see what's up. She did tell me that others who applied around my date are also still waiting. No biggy, but just feel better when my one year stamp is in the passport Edited April 28, 201412 yr by likewise
April 29, 201412 yr Likewise did they give you another free stamp of 15days under consideration like ubonjoe? Have you had to have 2 stamps now? 12th April and 27th April? Just wondering if the delay is their end that they will keep stamping your passport free of charge, until the extension application decision has been made.
April 29, 201412 yr Some immigration offices will not do another stamp with a new report date. Immigration will tell you that the date does not matter because the extension is still under consideration and you can just stay indefinitely until the extension is approved.
April 29, 201412 yr Some immigration offices will not do another stamp with a new report date. Immigration will tell you that the date does not matter because the extension is still under consideration and you can just stay indefinitely until the extension is approved. Just hope that the same immigration officer, that tells you that the date doesn't matter, is working the day that you return. Got visions that one of their colleagues will charge for an overstay. 'You can stay indefinitely until the extension is approved'. Hope my application gets lost in the post
April 29, 201412 yr I did not say a immigration officer. What I stated is immigration policy as confirmed a couple of years ago when Pattaya immigration would not stamp another date. How could they charge overstay since you are already beyond your permit to stay date, The report back date is not a permit to stay date.
April 29, 201412 yr Author Well my year extension was good till 22 april 2014, I applied on March 12 and they stamped till 22 May 2014, so still ok there !
April 29, 201412 yr Well my year extension was good till 22 april 2014, I applied on March 12 and they stamped till 22 May 2014, so still ok there ! Your immigration office does it the same way as the ones up here do it. They start the 30 days from your existing permit to stay date. Some start it from the date you apply.
April 29, 201412 yr Author Indeed UbonJoe. I'll pay them a visit tomorrow and will kindly ask why this year it's taking so long , or....maybe wait another week ?
April 29, 201412 yr Well my year extension was good till 22 april 2014, I applied on March 12 and they stamped till 22 May 2014, so still ok there ! I was told that I had to apply in the last 30 days of my permitted to stay stamp as per the rules. But it seems that every immigration office has their own rules.
April 30, 201412 yr Many offices will now allow you to apply up to 45 days early. That is Bangkok immigration's policy.
April 30, 201412 yr Author Ok, paid them a visit and apparently I'm not the only one, she showed me some applications of which the permission to stay ends on May 2nd, yet they haven't received the go ahead yet from the Southern head office in Hadyai. According to the local immigration Captain here there is a new bureaucrat in charge there ? Edited April 30, 201412 yr by likewise
April 30, 201412 yr The longest it took for me was just over 2 months. That was my 2nd extension. (Jomtien Immigration)
May 16, 201412 yr Author So we are now 7 days away from expiry yet still no news on visa ? When Ask them, they give the same answer.....the problem lays with regional head office in Hadyai !
May 16, 201412 yr You are worried over nothing. You still have a week before your report back date. I normally just wait for the date to come without even checking on it. We called the day before last year and went in a day early to get the stamp done.
