BMA beefs up security to deal with political protests

BANGKOK, 29 April 2014 (NNT) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) sets to an operation center on political protests while instructing all units to be on standby ready to safeguard government buildings and other important places in Bangkok.


Acting Bangkok Governor Phutsadee Tamthai said after meeting with the BMA executives on Monday that the BMA increased security to tackle mass gatherings of both the anti-government People’s Democratic Reform Committee and other groups.

The operation center was established to deal with violence such as clashes between opposing groups and destruction of important places, she said.

Ms Phutsadee stressed that the BMA provided supported for the government upon request and ordered all BMA units to set up an emergency center aimed primarily at protecting government buildings.

Beef up security?

What with?

The government have already tried that one using many methods including teargas, thousands of police in riot gear and chemically treated water cannon and still failed miserably.

The government have already tried that one using many methods including teargas, thousands of police in riot gear and chemically treated water cannon and still failed miserably.

They might re-install the security cameras in the mobile toilets?
