After 18 some years living with hilltribes(black lahus).I am leaving.from mae ka chan.

Will have two go back to usa to arrange my early social security and take care of other money matters.

Believe I will be back just not with hilltribes directly.

More with thai's as I love country thai's. Hardly any english is spoken but the smiles are plenty. Sure I will

Ki tune mak CR.

so, since goodbye was offered in the OP,

this IS a sudden upsurge in eathquake activity or is this accepted as part of the package, like hurricanes or tornados?

I want to look on the brightside, and earth swallowing things, isnt what I was thinkin

Well it was the largest modern earthquake ever recorded in Thailand, so chances are you've already seen most of the big action; for the next several decades anyhow.

Yesterday I saw this wich say 274 but later in the afternoon they said at tv that yesterday we had more then 20 after schokes and in all around 500.

http://www.bangkokpost.com/most-recent/408509

its too many to count,

the link provided says it all, it is shaking every day there, and they are not small,

two 3.'s in the last 14,

four 4's w a 4.7.

why isnt this an emergency?

just saying, it seems like those hills are breaking apart and about to cause some big divides.

Your “vehicle of physical perception” seems to be parked at an angle and distance which distorts your view. And this too shall pass, with life returning to normal, including rain, drought, hot and cold. Life is sometimes messy or inconvenient but people adapt and continue with their lives.

am still confused as the website says a 4.0 just struck, but no one is concerned?

I don't know that I would be the same:

I am sure you would even you do not think so now as you are not living here.

People in Chiang rai love this place whit what ever comes this way...

I do not say we love it all - but we have our life here whit our families and do not run away from it all.

Next to that, I guess the average age for foreigners are pretty high here, and doubt any of us would be ready to start over some where else.....

Who want to leave a place like this:

I know. That's my thought process too, and, I already have a girlfriend who grew up there who lives in Bangkok, so, I have some of the steps in place already and would not be starting from scratch having a native to help me,.

My concern, and I havent gotten an answer yet from anyone is,

are these earthquakes that I am seeing reported on that most excellent website located below, something NEW, and not normal?

I do not buy into the speculative that this is just releasing pressure,

I have been closely watching the relationship between solar eruptions, CME's and magnetic pulse activity having a dorect effect on the earth,

and I never in my wildest dreams thought that the ONE place I wanted to go to live, is now in the cross hairs of seismic danger

I have been here 5 years now and this is my second earth quake..the first one was in Myanmar whit epi around 120 km away and like this we got scared and ran out of the houses ect. - had some days whit after chock but that was it...sure we newer know when it hit us and it is a concern but also a thing - at least I only think about when we have one and not in my daily life.

I guess I fear lightning more which we have a lot more of.

Aftershocks generally say something happened, not that something is going to happen.

Almost always the biggest one hits first, and the everything underground gets reorganized and settles in until next time.

It may be 50 or more years before we see another 6 around here. But no guarantees eh?

I would be much more concerned about the collapse of Thai feudal system, and the upcoming revolution or civil war, then I would about earthquakes.

not questioning the science,

just this massive increase in 3's and even 4's

this doesnt appear to be fading

the star gazers are saying we are entering a period of high seismic stress points in the coming days

they are pointing to the california area as well as notable upticks in yellowstone,

I was watching that activity not northern thailand

I wasnt expecting to "stumble" across all this earthquake activity

it isnt being picked up anywhere except the link offered
