Management of psoriasis is very complex and may require more than just a topical medication. In addition, the diagnosis is not always straightfoward as there are other conditions (including a rare but potentially fatal type of cancer) that can look very much like it.

I therefore recommend you niot try to self-treat but rather consult a dermatologist.

Personally I like Dr. Parichart at Saint Louis (if you are in Bkk).

I just thought I'd ask incase there might be some herbal remedies or asian know how. A little naive perhaps.

If you have a big serious Psoriasis that it is difficult.

If you have only relative small spots:

Try if it has something to do with food. I get Psoriasis when I eat huge amounts of tomatoes. So maybe something in your food makes it worse as well.

Usually a lot sun and beach helps. They could get complete rid of it with my grandfather with UV light and he was always dark brown (but he is the white blond type and it was before everyone get hysteric about the sun).

But this of course only helps in not so serious cases.

Fish oil should be helpful as would eating an alkaline diet and sunshine.

A lot of over the counter creams can be useful ask at any pharmacy as it is a common condition.

Hi, I suffer with flaking skin on knees, elbows and a few other places. After a visit to Asoke skin hospital I was given a small container of cream to use twice daily. I subsequently discovered the cream was CLOBERT which is available from most pharmacies in BKK for about 80 baht. It worked great for me, good luck.

G'day I found clobetasol in a pharmacy.reccomended by the owner ( he seems knowledgeable). Seems tp be working. The patches are still there but the dead skin is peeling off easily. Is this good? What would signs of improvement be?

Took about 2 weeks to become really noticeable. The cream does keep the scales quite so they do rub off easily. Keep at it and I wish you all the best, it is an unsightly condition which, for me, after 20 or so years was great to reduce and in some cases (knees) completely gone. Thanks to Clobert!

- Started the pathological western way with my parents: went to see various dermatologists; had the cream treatment, the lotion, the cortisone, the steroids in UK in Spain, in France.

- went herbal European medecin, homeopathy then eastern, even had acupuncture

- went to India saw very renown ayuverdic doctor,gave me pills

- went to china and they gave me disgusting smelly herbal teas,could not swallow that.

All of the above helped somewhat but never cured it

- I ended up staying several years in China and there it disappeared for no apparent reasons:Could have been more sun exposure? I also stopped eating dairy (difficult to find at that time in China)

- Came back to Europe and so did the pso. So I did think at that time it was due to lack of sun

- Arrived in Thailand plenty of sun but pso was still there,used "Keela" lotion(30B) from any pharmacy worked great but as usual just on surface

- Had to stop dairy (was already a veggie) and processed food and it finally disappeared after 35 years

my grandfather had it. They put him into a lot of artificial sunlight. It was before everyone was concerned about it. He is a Swedish type and was relative dark brown after weeks of being red.

Together with some tables of strong vitamins it cured him. But he wasn't a strong case, just on the joints.

I get it if I eat huge amounts of tomatoes over a longer period.

(only know it because my parents were on holidays while I had to work and I had to take care their garden....and just ate all the time tomatoes)

i have proriasis...treatment for me ir DERMOVATE CREAM OR OITMENT...or betnovet cream or oitment..

for scalp you can use polytar shampoo..

thailand you can use...TEVOVATE -N cream

Hi Davo, bloody horrible disease, but things could be worse right ? ive had it for over 30 years , and after the first 10 developed arthritis to go with it , apparently psoriasis and arthritis go hand in hand. when i first got it , saw many doctors and used many lotions and potions , then one day my doc sent me to the uv chamber, as where i live not much hot weather, and hey presto it disappeared just like that, i had some big patches all over my body,now i only get it in places the sun cant reach.as the above poster mentioned , i also use betnovate cream , quite cheap and does the job , or can try davonex ointment, not sure correct spelling, but its a lot more expensive. so one of the main reasons i moved to asia was so i could get out in the sun often, i have heard people with psoriasis dont get skin cancer as much , not sure any truth to that, but i find the sun helps a lot. still no known cure and its trial and error as to what makes it worse , for me its mostly alcohol , especially beer that will flare it up. you will know pretty quick if the cream you are using will help , the area starts to feel better within days , the flaking will stop and the patches become less red and smoother . good luck with it.

Mine went away after I stopped eating wheat. I noticed when you were in China yours went away, were you eating rice and very little wheat? If I eat a waffle of piece of cake mine is back.

Nizoral Cream is used as a skin psoriasis treatment because there's Ketoconazole as an active ingredient, which is one of the few known as effective for psoriasis condition. I'd consult a specialist before taking anything, but you can get it at the major pharmacies here, even the ones inside Tops. Back in the States, I used to order Nizoral from Nizoralshop.com. it's something to check out If you want to know more about Nizoral in English.
