I'm about to do my first visa run to get the extra 90 days on my multiple entry visa,I am based in Phuket, where would best for me to go?? Don't totally understand it yet ??

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

You can go anywhere outside Thailand by air or overland. I did 3 visa runs when I was there - Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia. Malaysia might be good from Phuket. If you are British (and most other nationalities) you don't need a visa for Malaysia for a stay of up to 30 days. Thailand will give you another 90 days when you re-enter. You can actually make a 1 year visa last for 15 months.

One thing I have never understood about this visa run system is why the Thais make people go out of Thailand to renew. They are therefore spending money outside Thailand rather than in the country. I used to treat it as an opportunity for a short break and see other places so I spent about 3 weeks outside Thailand that I wouldn't have done otherwise. People who are on retirement visas or spouse visas don't need to do these visa runs. They just go to one of the many Immigration Offices in Thailand.

People are not on retirement or spouse visas. They are on extensions of stay for the purpose of retirement or for marriage. If you qualify for an extension of stay for one of the accepted purposes, you will only have to make 90 day reports and renew once a year. People who don't qualify for an extended stay must do the Visa shuffle.

The OP has another topic on this, It is First visa run !
