PM Yingluck removed from office

Well it surely took a long time to state the obvious. Anyway, over to the SA I mean brown shirts, sorry again: red militia. Yeah I like that post of putting Chuwit in as caretaker that d be fun. I don t always agree with him but its a no BS kinda guy. Surely not afraid. Never happen though. The only just choice right now would be a business cabinet from both sides of the divide. Change some of the electoral laws that were put in place by PTP to benefit PTP, and have a new election.

UNLAWFUL TRANSFER
Charter Court dismisses Yingluck and nine cabinet members from office

BANGKOK: -- The Constitutional Court on Wednesday dismissed caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from office, ruling that she abused her power by transferring National Security Council Thawil Pliensri.

The nine Cabinet members involved in the unlawful transfer of Thawil were stripped of their positions. "The Prime Minister's status has ended, Yingluck can no longer stay in her position acting as caretaker prime minister," a judge said in a live televised ruling.

The remainder of the cabinet can continue working, the judge said. The judge said Yingluck violated the charter on the transfer of Thawil from position of National Security Council.

The transfer of Thawil Pliensri from the post of National Security Council chief was unlawful, unconstitutional and unethical.

Yingluck Shinawatra had a hidden agenda in ordering the transfer and also intended to benefit a relative. The court thus ruled that the transfer was prohibited by the law as it was unethical and a conflict of interest.

The Court ruled that only Yingluck and nine other Cabinet members who took part in Thawil's transfer must be removed from the Cabinet.

The others, who were not members of the Yingluck Cabinet that approved Thawil’s transfer, can remain in office as caretaker Cabinet members. The court also ruled that the caretaker Cabinet can continue its duties until the new Cabinet takes office.

The Constitutional Court ruled that it has no mandate to order the appointment of a new prime minister within seven days as requested by the complainant.

The request to the court to order the appointment of a new was made by Senator Paibul Nititawan during the trial on Tuesday. Paibul filed the abuse of power suit against Yingluck.

That was her best? What a frightening thought, how bad could it have been if she wasn't doing her best.

She looked pretty & kept the upmarket malls in BK & CM in business. What more could anyone expect with her pedigree & political CV

Is anyone really surprised by this pre-determined decision? I doubt it. Now it's just a matter of who will be next in to lead the govt until the election

The outcome was predetermined at the time the illegal action took place. How could there be any different outcome if the court rules according to the law? The unanimous 9 to 0 decision sounds pretty legal, as did the surprise hard evidence of who was involved. They got caught.

The lunatic SUTHEP failed to accomplish anything so the courts held a judicial coupe AGAIN. If u can't win an election let the courts give a guilty verdict on trumped up charges. Let's see what happens now.

Are you saying the Tawil transfer case was a fiction of the courts? Be real.

Market just rallied up a little on the news. So did the Baht

This is short time & normal reaction.

Today:

1 = 45,1 bahts

1 USD = 32,4 bahts

1 £ = 55,0 £

If the peace comes back, the baht will strenght and the xchange rate from nov. 2013 should quickly re-apply.

Right now the set index is raising about 1 % from -1 %

The set is down 2.47 on MOTOROLA

All red. No green

Constitutional Court: PM removed from office

PNPOL570507001001101_07052014_031534.jpg

BANGKOK, 7 May 2014 (NNT) – The Constitutional Court has unanimously ruled to remove Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra from her office after she was found guilty of illegally transferring the National Security Council (NSC) chief Thawin Pliensri.

The court delivered a verdict to remove Ms. Yingluck and nine other ministers who approved the transfer of Mr. Thawin of having abused their power. As a result, all ten of them were removed from their posts.

The nine ministers include Surapong Tovichakchaikul, Chalerm Yubumrung, Kittiratt Na-Ranong, Santi Prompan, Anudith Nakornthap, Siriwat Kachornprasart, Pracha Promnok, Yutthasak Sasriprapa and Plodprasop Suraswadi.

The ruling echoed that of Supreme Administrative Court, which said the transfer had been unlawful and unfair because Ms. Yingluck had not given appropriate reasons for the NSC chief’s removal.

The case was filed by a group of senators led by appointed senator Paiboon Nititawan, who insisted the premier gave the green light for the transfer to benefit her own political party.

After Ms. Yingluck was dismissed, a deputy prime minister from the Pheu Thai Party would be replacing her role as caretaker prime minister. Two deputy Prime Ministers who did not attend the cabinet meeting at the center of the trial are Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisal and Pongthep Thepkanchana.

This gets my hackles up. Poor woman has had a really awful day(assuming she has any awareness whatsover of her days as political puppet), and what happens to her? Some bugger has only gone and started chopping onions right next to her. Salt in wounds...

This question NOT intended for the drooling civil war doomsayers lurking here:

Is there any word from other sources on the actual levels of unrest or political demonstrations planned in Bangkok over the next few days? Any announcements of closures or service suspensions? Any disruptions taking place now?

At my house north of Bangkok (near a Red village no less), the Reds have lost a lot of influence.

Best thing we can do at this point is to embrace them, and include them as part of the reform solution.

Agreed, at least as far as the rank and file goes anyway. Best to marginalize the hard liners.

There was a large prisoner transfer (3 trucks full) from Prachin Buri to Bangkok yesterday. Locals say they were accused of aiding friends of Koh Tee escape to Cambodia.

The hard liners are working hard to marginalize themselves.

Things really do seem to be changing.

as this was a forgone conclusion...nope.

I suspect we'll see a few more grenades being launched however, maybe the odd bank branch burning, usual stuff...

This will only make the country even less governable, less confident and less interesting for foreign investors - there is only one way forward and that is through democratic elections and now!

Sent from my i-mobile IQ 2 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

And when the Democrats loose...again! they will not accept that they are not wanted. And all this crap will just start all over again. If only they would accept the election results and allow the elected party get on with governing. Lets face it,just about all Thai politicians are corrupt, that's how it is, although i doubt if there is one more corrupt than Suthep

Another case of democracy = elections.

Let's have some reforms first.

Yingluck keeps low profile following ruling, will send three aides to hold press conference

Yingluck Shinawatra, who has been removed as the prime minister by the Constitutional Court, would not come out to talk to the media Wednesday, a source close to her said.

She would instead send Deputy Prime Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana, PM's Office Minister Varathep Ratanakorn and Thongthong, permanent secretary for Justice, to hold a press conference on her behalf, the source said.

WOW!!!

What a shocker..... never saw this coming from such a globally renowned high profile statesperson.

She must have twisted her other ankle climbing out of the PM's chair.
