wildlife and birdwatching in thailand..

Featured Replies

Hi there, just wondered what sort of exotic wildlife thailand has to offer, are there many types of interesting birds for instance.

Thali Noi Lake, northern Songkhla (near Pattalung) is one good spot for migratory birds ... January is usually the best time for the birds... April great for seeing lotus blooms, ... still birds but not so many!

Rent a long tail.... it's great fun!

You can stay here... located at the end of the village of Thali Noi....

There are roughly 1000 species of birds recorded in Thailand (one birder alone has seen over 900!).

Wherever you may live, there are National Parks and Wildlife Reserves of various types. Many good birding areas are outside these parks, too, so you needn't have to worry too much about entrance fees.

If you are interested, look at this link from a swedish VERY good photographer, you can also find his contactdetails on his homepage, and he certainly will offer you spots where to find all these at least 600 birds he has found and photed...
