Because someone has pointed out to him that if/when PDRC take power, he will end up trussed like a turkey face down in a river.

Having to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea what does one do? Well since i can't vote all i can do is sit back in astonishment, all the players in this conflict are making mistakes that even a 16 year old farang would avoid. They are supposed to be professional politicians for Gods sake, what a joke. The police have shown themselves to be incompetent ( as if we all didn't know that already ) the army is unwilling, the government, such as it is, is not only incapable it has been check mated.

Suma sumarium.......Thailand is already a failed state. It looks as if it is still functioning in the same way a man having a heart attack can still crawl along the ground in agony.

It's so clear why some of you are so supportive of this guy -- not.

Suthep may well be a nut, he may well be all you say, without a person like this to do something what on earth will this Land be like. Go think, if it was a jelly fish opposing the wrongs I would support it's healthy, YOU ????

You and your fellow lunatics must be thrilled.

No elections, no news - just 24 hours of Suthep. Better watch out... pretty soon his next demand will be no foreigners.

Suthep said it many times in the 90s how much he hates foreigners and consider us worse than dogs.

This is no surprise at all. Former Democrat leader Chuan Leekpai regarded the putschist Suthep as the "most corrupt and antidemocratic people in the whole Thailand". I would add the most racist as well.

All you cheerleaders for Suthep make me laugh because you haven't got a clue what you could potentially end up with because neither he or his cronies have revealed any of their plans in detail. Be careful what you wish for because you could end up with far more than you bargained for. vampire.gif

Look what happened in Chile for example in 1973.

Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte, overthrew the elected socialist Unidad Popular government of President Salvador Allende and ended all civilian rule and in 1974 he ordered the electoral rolls be destroyed.

Opposition parties were placed in "indefinite recess" and were later banned outright. The government's violence was directed not only against dissidents but also against their families and other civilians .

As we all know now Pinochet's regime was responsible for various human rights abuses during its reign including murder and torture of political opponents.

And don't even think of saying that could never happen here because it should be apparent to anyone by now Suthep and his followers have no genuine intention of adhering to the normal democratic model and who knows what their intentions are with regards to the legitimate voting rights of the people of Isan.

Suthep is 1000 times worse than Pinochet.

Pinochet didn 't destroy the economy, Suthep will. it 's already doing it.

PInochet hadn't stolen anf bribed before being involved in the bloody military coup (he eventually stole dozens of millions later, while in power), while Suthep has a curriculum of massacres, corruption, money emblezzement, etc....

Nothing could be worse than this governing has beans, reverse things back and let us have the dictatorship that was democratically elected--your a joke

Sorry am I missing something here!? All government TV stations are censored right, they report nothing that's puts the government in a negative light. So you can't accuse Suthep of blocking free speech because they don't allow free speech in the stations he's commandeered.

Ginjag did these bullshit acts pair you in any shape or form? Did they raise your taxes? Did they change the way you lived? Did it effect your lifestyle and salaries over the past 3 years?

I'm willing to bet the answer is not a single thing they did effected you. It is your choice to live in Thailand your free to leave at any time my good fella but something tells me that your happier here than you would be back in your birth country why would that be ?

Perhaps it's because as much <deleted> as there is here it's a lot less than your home if origin ;)

Most government all over the globe have done shit that would be demed illegal look at the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from the UK the electorate said NO but Bliar said a big F-You to the people who voted him in and it was the same people who voted his party out , granted it was the fact the Liberals sided with the Tories that ousted them but the Thai dems are the liberals in that they have plenty of support just never enough to win an election by being the majority .

He is like a spoilt brat, reform is indeed needed to prevent people like this getting away with things like this

He is the reformer. The rest is worse than you know.

He has caused more damage to Thailand in the last 6 months than Thaksin ever did. Effecting the value of the baht, detracting foreign investment, tourism and overall confidence. He has the most colourful corruption history of any MP and has somehow managed to quell any legal proceedings against him time and time again. Just because you haven't been found guilty by a court of law doesn't make you innocent. As for being 'the reformer' - what reforms? Nothing... just a popular ploy he has been succesfully spinning for months without so much as any draft proposals. But go ahead, keep sucking it up.

CAPO at this point has not been able to broadcast announcements on Channels 3, 5, 7, and Thai PBS. Channel 9 still covers CAPO announcements. Pheu Thai had been also able to get on Channel 11's signal, but it seems that was short-lived. The narrative of Pheu Thai has thus been compromised, and CAPO's increasingly surreal announcements are now reaching a diminished audience. From every conceivable and practical standpoint, the Pheu Thai administration has ceased to function. They can just basically stand still while the courts and public opinion surrounds it. It needs to be reiterated - they have no constitutionally elected prime minister - either through a quorum-filled parliament or the Senate in the event of a quorum-less parliament - they have half a cabinet, they have no legislative power, they have no parliament, and they have no public mandate. And in fact, there is no present path for an election for three reasons - 1) things on the ground are as unsettled - and likely more so - than the previous election. Under such conditions an election could not be successfully held. 2) Pheu Thai has tried to impose a clause in a new decree whereby the EC can postpone the election again if it has difficulties with the poll. Such a clause has never been included in an election decree before, and could be successfully challenged constitutionally. You simply can't have an election clause that includes an optional moving election date. 3 ) As the man picked by Phue Thai was done outside the provisions of the constitution, he has not the authority to set an election date.

In short, the Pheu Thai administration is frozen in a state of paralysis.

True freedom of speech says

If the governemnt or any of its ministers can say something

the opossiton or in this case, Suthep has the right of reply

and Vice Versa

To not allow this. :which is the Capo way: is to have a dictatorship

Suthep has no right to force any media to do only his announcments

but under free speech he has the right to demand right of reply

Every day we now see more and more examples that Thakin and PTP are a Dictator Government

"Every day we now see more and more examples that Thakin and PTP are a Dictator Government"

Name one!

And the fascist dictator controls the media so that it only airs news supportive of his new judicial/political coup govt ... all this before we see any details of his proposed reforms! ... all without consulting the people.

This man shows contempt for freedom of speech, he uses threats and intimidation to get his own way, he preaches like he's a god, he denies people the right to vote, he has a long history of nepotism and corruption, he has a vigilante deposed monk as a side kick ... omg people can't you see the writing on the wall? Are you so blinded by your hatred of PTP that you fail to see you jumping out of the pot and into the fire. This man will drag Thailand back into the fuedal dark ages of people disappearing in the dark of night .... he is cut from the same cloth as Sadam and Pol Pot ... oh well som nam na

Sometimes people need to make choices. Not always between good and bad, right or wrong or black or white. But maybe people need to consider and choose the lesser evil according to their own needs. Unfortunately the choice may not necessarily be for the good of the country.

PDRC says it did not threaten media

xPNPOL570510001001101_10052014_014740.jp

BANGKOK, 10 April 2014 (NNT) – The People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) says it did not threaten the media, but instead asked for cooperation.

Ekanat Prompan, PDRC spokesperson, has asserted that the PDRC protesters didn't threaten or use force against the press, adding that the protesters always adhered to the principle which is to protest in a peaceful way and without weapons. He said the PDRC only asked the media for their cooperation to stop airing announcements made by the Center for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO) and present news that is related to its campaign.

Mr. Ekanat spoke after the Thai Journalists Association and the Thai Broadcast Journalists Association had made an official announcement condemning the PDRC’s action in seizing several TV stations namely channels 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11.

The two press associations said the anti-government protesters were threatening the rights and freedom of journalists to perform their professional duties.

Okay thats you opinion

and on this forum you have the right to give it

So as you demand this right for you

Why do you not demand the same rights for the Thai people

No 1) Freedom of speech by all parties in all areas

No 2) Section 102 Enforced

A person under any of the following prohibitions shall have no right to be a candidate in an election of members of the House of Representatives:

(6) having been expelled, dismissed or removed from the official service, a State agency or a State enterprise on the ground of dishonest performance of duties or corruption;

3) All parties yellow and red to abide by the rule of law

Here there is no bias as all should be for all parties

Sure, but only if

1) the courts are truely independent, unbiased and fair (which is fairly obvious they are not) ... they must not continue to be dominated by Yellow supporters.

2) the senate is fully elected to avoid is dominance by Yellow appointees

3) all parties currently with charges outstanding face an independent international court

4) any reform proposals are put to referendum before being made law

5) an election date must be set and adhered to

6) the Thai people must completely reject this pseudo feudalism in favour of a democracy and quit pretending

Nah if he was thai he would be like the majority of Thais who want to get rid of sutep and have a vote.

Shutting down anyone who opposes him or his yellow thugs.

Anyone who condones this idiots actions is as fruity as this fascist !

You just do not get it

What use is a vote if you can only vote for 1 party

you may just as well say PTP wins by default

This is what you call freedom of speech and democracy

NO, they CAN vote for more parties, but they simply wont , that's your and the Dem's problem, but you just don't get it....

Who told you democracy is the best choice, modern farang brainwashed by western leftist propaganda considers democracy as the only choice. and what's worse, imposed left-liberal discourse stigmatize everybody who just questions this as "fascist", oblivious that Hitler was elected 100% democratically.

Majority just can't choose the right person because it's easily manipulated. Majority will choose a populist who promise to rob the rich smart and successful, who promise to pay money for nothing. even anceint Greeks new about this main disadvantage of democracy, or "ochlocracy" - mob rule.

freedom of press, democracy is a weapon which West uses against political leaders considered unmanageable.

but I believe Thai elite has enough common sense and power to get back Thailand's independence and to get rid of corrupted comprador Shinavatra family who are 100% controlled by there assets in Western banks and trusts.

how do Suthep and his friends still don't understand that the main fight is the fight for minds? Nothing will happen until the coalition will control most of TV channels. They should not just switch off the electricity but change CEOs and all key figures in management. This the only choice to neutralize destructive Thakisn's influence.

People learn about what they think from TV...

Ever see the movie -

The Man Who Would Be King?
A 1975 film adapted from the Rudyard Kipling short story of the same title. It was adapted and directed by John Huston and starred Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Saeed Jaffrey, and Christopher Plummer as Kipling.
History has record upon record of those who lust for power being put down either with an assassination or a suicide like Hitler.
This guy is causing immeasurable problems for the Kingdom. But he will soon be eliminated like all the rest throughout history who thought they were immortal and could do what they wanted without any repercussions.

yes those terrible 'media' who will not broadcast the megalomaniacs daily speeches. How dare they!!! those speeches are pure GOLD (well yellow at least!!!) but all that glistens... anyway I digress

maybe a 'little yellow book' will be published... ALL citizens must carry it - read it - absorb it

maybe when Suthep dies we should have a yellow square? a mausoleum? Long Live Dear Leader!!! let's site it near the Duck Pond at Lumpini
