Isaan translator?

Featured Replies

When my wife comments on my Facebook page she uses Thai language which, with the help of Google Translate, I can understand. When she comments on on her Fb page she mostly uses Isaan. Google Translate is useless, although sometime hilarious, with Isaan. Does anyone know of an Isaan translation program? Babylon claims to have it but their trial version does not.

There's an Isaan/English dictionary on-line at http://www.isangate.com/word/isandict.html

I haven't used it and don't know how good it is.

Try Lao.....maybe you get better results.

Not found a satisfactory tool/dictionary so far.

Just a list of a few terms here:

I fed some words from the list to the dictionary (post #2) with some result.

I tried that but the Lao alphabet is very different.

Isan, a dialect, is similar to Lao. when people chat in Isan on fb, they use Thai letters to form Isan words. you can look up their meaning via an Isan dictionary. i have an Isan dictionary at home but not sure if you can find it online. my suggestion is learning to speak Isan

I've struggled with this for a long while, and the only thing I can think of, is if I can find some student who doesn't mind making a little extra money to translate a few posts.
