Trang may be selected as the venue for a regional learning center

The southern province of Trang is hoping to be selected the venue for the regional learning center.

Trang mayor Chalee Kang-im (ชาลี กางอิ่ม) said the United Nations University, which is a high-level education institute, wanted to set up a regional learning center in Thailand. The center will form a network of local and regional education institutions which will exchange knowledge and information on sustainable development, Mr. Chalee said.

He said the United Nations University would select either Trang or Chiang Mai as the venue for the center.

Mr. Chalee believed Trang has a high chance of being selected given its promotion of the people’s participation in local administration, its cultural diversity and its peaceful environment.
