keithet
If you enter Thailand by plane from US and get a 30day stamp on entry. In 30 days can you do one border cross by land for another 30 days then go home? Or is your first flight entry considered your only 30day entry? Mario2008
In your case best to get a tourist visa, which will give you 60 days and can be extended by 30 days. The first time will be considered your first visa exempt entry and the second entry the no longer allowed border run.
ubonjoe
You can do one of each. You will not have a problem. But it would be best to get a tourist visa that would give you a 60 day entry. Also unless you have a ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival you can be denied boarding your flight if you don't have a visa. keithet
I'm asking for my friend he said its difficult to go to Thai embassy in Hawaii for a 60day visa because he lives on a different island. He was hoping to arrive on a 30day then go to Cambodia for a visa run then return home. He will buy a two way ticket to come here and go back home. The return trip home to Hawaii will be 55 days after arrival to Thailand. Edited May 12, 2014 by keithet
Mario2008
Can't he apply by mail? Officially the airine cna deny him boarding if he doesn't have a flight out within 30 days of arrival if travelling without a visa. If he goes to Cambodia by plane and books a ticket before flying to Thailand it will not be a problem.
ubonjoe
The honorary consulates in the US can no longer accept mail in applications. But he should check with consulate to confirm. Website: http://thaiconsulatehi.org/ He could apply by mail to the official consulate in LA. http://www.thaiconsulatela.org/index.aspx
choochoo
Buy a REFUNDABLE outbound ticket from thailand on a seperate airline if airline employeee wont let you board due to bad return date. Some ticket agents wont tell you this solves the problem.
ClutchClark
Buy a REFUNDABLE outbound ticket from thailand on a seperate airline if airline employeee wont let you board due to bad return date. Some ticket agents wont tell you this solves the problem. Caution: refundable airline tickets are not always refundable. Several airlines will allow you to cancel a refundable ticket without penalty; however, the balance is placed in credit for you to apply towards future travel. I have read that it is much cheaper to purchase a bus ticket out of the country for 1,000 Baht and have the travel agent send you the itinerary anf receipt.
