Traveling toddler

Featured Replies

I did find an older topic on this, but would like to hear if there is anything more recent.

I am taking my 5yr old boy to Canada. He has a Thai and Canadian passport. Do I

just use the Thai PP and show the Canadian one? I used his Canadian PP as ID

for his ticket.

Thanks for any info

whistling.gif At six years old he is to young to be considered responsible for his own immigration process, so it's you who will be doing that..

The best idea is always to use his Thai passport to exit and enter Thailand, and his Canadian passport for Canada or other countries.

You will need to carry bot passports..

Using his Thai passport, you won't need a visa in or out of Thailand.

If you enter him on his Canadian passport he will need to exit on his Canadian passport and he will require a Thai visa if he uses his Canadian passport to enter Thailand.

That's why using his Thai passport is always your best choice for him.

You will show both passports at check in for the flight. Then only the Thai passport to departure immigration. Then use his Canadian passport for entry there..

You can join your son in the immigration lines for Thai nationals, if they have shorter lines.

Is the mother traveling with you? if not, get a note from her giving you permission to take the child out of the country. A simple note with copy of her ID and claerly identifying you as mr.*************** born *********** will do.

Immigration can ask for it.

Thanks. That is about what I had gathered, but getting in the Thai Nationals line is a bonus
