Acting PM goes into hiding as protesters come looking

BANGKOK: -- Acting Prime Minister Niwattumrong Boonsongpaisan yesterday fled from protesters to hide in a "safe house".

He is scheduled to leave for Chiang Rai today, a source close to him said.

Niwattumrong fled from an Air Force auditorium near the Air Force Officers' Club after protesters led by the People's Democratic Reform Committee broke into the compound.

The acting prime minister was meeting with the Election Commission on preparations for the new vote.

The source said the acting prime minister kept a low profile in the safe house and did not go to work at his temporary office at the Defence Ministry.

He is scheduled to visit the people affected by the earthquake in Chiang Rai.

More Shenanigans, none of it even slightly beneficial to Thailand as a nation.

So now he knows. It's not all cigars, fine cognac, chauffeur driver Rollers and illicit knee tremblers from the secretaries. There is a responsibility that goes with the premiership, and as a non elected puppet that is due a fall for his complicity in the rice scam, he will likely last as long as a horse race(and I'm not thinking of the grand national here).

Went hiding in the new capital of Lanna Republic already? It is time for the army to move in to counter the separatist.

He's been Thaksin's minion since the ITV days when Traipop tried to persuade small investors to buy shares. Lots of gullible folk lost money in that escapade.

I don't know why Thaksin didn't offer the poisoned chalice to Pongthep, perhaps he refused?

And the Thai press feeds in to the sickness of the Thai circus with these types of headlines "..... protesters come looking." As if the seditionist protesters have the government on the run and the Thai press loves it.

Why would the seditionist protesters, led by Ko Tee and Jatuporn, have the government on the run...?

Is it not time the army moved in to prevent Suthep's mob from unlawfully preventing the government from functioning? Why didn't the army or RTAF soldiers prevent the mob from entering a secure military compound? These failures to act have left many people in no doubt where the military's true allegiancies lie.

These thugs break into a military compound, says a lot for the quality of the armed forces of Thailand, let's hope they don't have to protect the country from outside forces. Try breaking into a military compound in Australia to kidnap the Prime Minister or acting P.M. you would probably find yourself dead.

Why hasn't he jumped on the next flight to meet all the others, just confirmed by NACC that at the minute they are overseas.

Acting PM still have the power to run a government, the mob protesters shouldn't do that as it affect the imagine of the whole nation in the eye of the world.

Acting PM must have power to defend the country from enemy but lose to enemy within the country, he making a smart choice by not confrontation but such act make 1 winning point for the government.

Well now, he has certainly shown everybody who is in charge

They didn't "break in" to anything... They strolled in, and there is nothing in the article to suggest it was a kidnap attempt.

By not condemning this it just shows the yellows support for the thugs!

Yep true colours alright!

..........same-same...........

...allocate money left and right.......

....but be held accountable for nothing.......

Same photo copy reply--Yellows again (nonexistent) get a life and condemn reds and others for a change, but that doesn't fit your objective on forum.

Forum is not a place to take sides it is a contact point to discuss achievements and disasters etc. So why come on just to deny wrong doings by the government and call everyone else YELLOW. Sad really.

Just strolled in, that's even worse and makes the military look like even bigger dimwits. Did they turn in fear and run when they saw the Mad lunatic Suthep Coming?

I am sure they did just turn up for scones and tea with the Acting P.M. Suthep did order his people last week to go out and abduct the Acting P.M. and other ministers and bring them him.

The Thais have dug themselves a hole so deep that they couldn't even see the light at the top if they looked up. No matter who wins this round the hatred and disharmony will go on for years,a decade at least. Acting PM goes into hiding - Actually he is hiding in plain sight, just like Suthep!

*hums the Benny Hill theme tune*

He's meeting coup Senators tomorrow, so he's not in hiding, just disinformation.

He's also clearly not going to Chiang Rai if he agreed to meet the Senate's coup group in the afternoon.

By not condemning this it just shows the yellows support for the thugs!

Yep true colours alright!

If they painted his tail bright red, they could find it between his legs, fleeing in true PTP style; instead of bold, courageous leadership, PTP have time and again presented us with cowardly, corrupt castrated crooks as a version of male leadership.

..there is no 'yellow' color concept and hasn't been for some time. Master of self-discredit learned from the Lord of All discreditors Chalerm? Take another sip....

Good morning all !! I see it is more of the same on the postings.

Thailand has many problems and at the root is education, Lack there of. If you have so little education you can not know there is a better, brighter way to live you just follow whoever is playing the tune you like. I would like to know what the average education level is of the rank and file Red Shirts, not the ones running their mouths on the stage. I know many Thailand people who are very good and kind people, but they can not even read or write there own language.

I do voluntary teaching in English and some my students were unable to identify hardly any countries other than the ones bordering Thailand. They do not watch educational channels, only Cartoon Channel and "Soap Operas" where people are always, slapping, shooting or stabbing people. Of course there is the "Slap Stick Comedy", yes I watched Red Skelton and Jacky Gleason when I was a young one in USA.

OK, I think you get the message, have a nice day Jerry

Went to Chang Rai .... "Deja vu"....

Meeting Yingluck at OTOP Shop??? cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

The Acting Caretaker PM is learning fast...!

But you'd think he'd want to get a bit more involved though . It won't be long before it's someone else's turn in the PTP barrel. wink.png

Is it not time you learned that it is NOT the responsibility of the Army.

It IS the responsibility of the police and the CAPO under Chalerm and Tarit.

If the Army moves in to take control you will be amongst the first to scream about a military coup.

The military's true allegiance is to the traditional institutions, primarily the monarchy and the military (maybe not in that order). Suthep and the Democrats assume that if they can provoke a military coup the military will put them in charge, so they are doing they're best to create chaos. The government also assumes that if the military stages a coup the Democrats will be put in charge, and there may be a civil war, so they are doing their best to avoid confrontation.

The acting PM should act like he cares...
