Never understood why we need these international news tidbits on TV. Alerting readers to something significant is OK, but no articles about the price of bananas in Belize. Please.

It is the World News Section and you are welcomed to read or not read any of the threads you wish. We do not permit commenting on the news team or the news source.

I will, however, try to prevent anything about the price of bananas in Belize from appearing.

socialisation... here is one ... not being in my home country with my kids, give me no child allocation money for me/wife/kids in thailand...(and have worked many years in taxes & contributions)

on the other hand

(illegal) immigrants, that live in my country, but their children are still in their home country, GET children allocation (without even have worked one day in their live or contributed anything)

my old mother, same as other pensionners, having worked all their lives, are getting a small handout and pension homes cost double their monthly pension

America has never defaulted on Social Security. This is very unlikely. SS is not a welfare program - it's an insurance program. It's based on ten years ( minimum ) of work - not the last ten years. I also started paying when I was 15.

Also one of governments functions is redistribution of income. No such thing as full employment etc. Actually food stamps and unemployment are a fairly small part of USA budget.

I grew up thinking I'd never see any of my Social Security payments coming back - but I start in less than 1 year. Not over the top payments but better than a sharp stick in the eye :-)
