Jatuporn claims top brass want to make Prayuth interim PM

BANGKOK: -- Jatuporn Prompan, the chairman of the United Front of Democracy against Dictatorship, claimed Friday that he had learned that the military top brass want to have Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha the interim nonpartisan prime minister.

Jatuporn said he was informed by a high-level "water-melon" Army officer that the military top brass had discussed the political situation and agreed that Prayuth should take the post of nonpartisan prime minister.

He challenged Prayuth to swear in front of the Emerald Buddha the discussion did not happen.

Jatuporn called on the red shirts to come out in full force to rally at the Utthayan Road to prevent the appointment of a nonpartisan prime minister.

I look forward to the strictly non-partisan Prayuth making his reasoned reply.

Normally such wild accusations would be ignored as it's clear that no one would accept Gen. Prayuth as neutral interim PM. It seems more the accusation of someone desperate to attract more followers for the 17 - 19 May battle.

Mind you one of the reasons chief CAPO advisor Surapong wants martial law installed might be to make it easier to have Gen Prayuth as non-neutral interim PM. Is k. Surapong secretly in favour of a coup in disguise?

Anyway, Prompong tactics. Accuse and demand the other proves somehow the accusation is not true.

BTW if I stated the Moon is made of Roquefort cheese, could I demand you prove me wrong. Furthermore would you bother?

damn right she will prove you wrong..to quote charles and eddie..would i lie to baby would i lie to you..

..such a thing would set Thailand back 30 years. Disastrous proposal.

Actually an imaginative conspiracy theory and wild accusation by Jatuporn.

Equally disastrous though.

The General has already made his disdain for the piece of crap Jatuporn known when the criminal was made head of the UDD. So why should he respond to a mad dog barking at him?

Hopefully he will deny it and more importantly deny it honestly.

If there is to be a Stand In Acting Caretaker Prime Minister (deep breath....) he should not come from either the army or the police, neither of which is non partisan.

Make that 60 years, we have just lost 30 years through 2+ trillion unaccounted for, wakey wakey.

May I make a point, NO politician with any crime/tarnished record to stand for election for starters, applies to all parties.

Get some agreeable proposals from the remainder to add some urgent reforms, extra strict new laws-reform police.

Jatuporn didnt make this comment to have it answered by Prayuth. He knows how much Prayuth despises him. Jatuporn is doing everything he can to get more REDS active to come protest. This is the 2nd time this week he has made a statement and then in his comment he calls for the REDS to come out. If you have been following the news their seems to be a problem with payment from the PTP to protesters. What better way to get them to come for free then to instill anger amd hatred and purpose into those they cant pay

It's the wrong time to recruit upcountry, farmers are ploughing for the upcoming rainy season, the only available adults are the drug addicts, unemployable and grandmothers who don't have to take of grandchildren- and there are not many of those.

"He challenged Prayuth to swear in front of the Emerald Buddha the discussion did not happen."

I'm sure the Emerald Buddha would really listen to a request by Jatuporn.

It is clear that Prayuth is a bigger, living, problematical icon to Jatuporn than any for of Buddha, and Jatuporn should know - he has lots of valuable icons donated to him as gifts from rich, powerful PTP members, including yours truly K. T.

Sounds like a solid plan. Prayuth has been one of the only cool heads over the Thaksin trouble years. He would likely be a measured PM much as Surayud was before him.

I did not notice, although I'm sure some of his fans have pointed it out before, the blame in the PTP and Yingluck governments collapse. It lies fairly and squarely with Thaksin himself. It was his greed, arrogance and contempt for law and his opponents that led to the rice scams, amnesty fiascos etc. I would like to hear this said, some honesty pls.

The Opposite is true.

We have a small mob that caused massive damage during a 3 day riot last november and have closed down offices, roads, hotels, road juctions and Lumpini park. Now parliament, the EC and invaded a (complicit obviously) miltary base.

All the while with the blessing of Prayuth.

Few injuries to his blessed PDRC flock and he is promising all out war on the Red Shirts. and this is non-partisan.

If he is not careful he will get his all out war with the reds and not at the timing of his choosing nor in the manner of his choosing.

Walking with Suthep, he walks a very risky path. But as we say in thailand C'est la Vie oh hand on, Up to you I mean.

You are right. To believe that a statement is more trustworthy when done it front of a famous Buddha statue is hilarious and the country should move forward and leave this superstitious nonsense behind. Just out of interest, how did you come up with 30 years? Is there a way to calculate such things accurate?

Can I add something you forgot. (although it's not in your interest as it's not on your agenda)

A large MOB called the PTP elected and for 3 years caused diabolical damage to Thailand. Use your memory before posting DEAR.

Why are you looking for blame for corrupt government abusing their power----why complain about others JEN.

Assuming the report is accurate, why would he want to accept a poisoned challice when he could retire peacefully in a few months time?

I doubt the international press would spend long on reporting the detailed answers to "why is this not a military coup" if he get to be appointed PM...
