Extention of stay on a 30 day visa waiver entry stamp

Recommended Posts

So I did the 30 day visa runs to Poipet all this year.

Didn't plan to fly back home until July and get a new non-o visa so was wondering is it possible to get a 60 day extension on my 30 day visa waiver entry due to visiting a Thai wife/child.

I now have 5 entry stamps back to back from Poipet border and one from the airport when I flew to Singapore at Christmas so would that be an issue?

If I do it for visiting the child can I do it alone? I know if it is for the wife she also needs to go as I did an extension of my now expired Non-O visa and she had to come.

Also what documents do I need other then the picture/copy of marriage/birth certificate and passport copies?

Thank you

Just to confirm.

I can enter on a 30 day visa waiver. Then extend for 60 days using marriage to a Thai ?

Is it also possible to apply for 1 year extension based on marriage if entering on 30 day visa waiver ?

( this is providing all the other Financial criterior are met of course )

As I said you can do the 60 day extension with any type of entry which a includes an a visa exempt entry.

You can do a conversion to a non immigrant visa entry based upon qualifying for an extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai. You can only do it at Bangkok immigration and you must have 15 days remaining on your entry when you make the application It will require two trips to Bangkok immigration to do it.

If you do not live close to Bangkok I suggest you go out to any nearby embassy or consulate and obtain a single entry non-o visa based upon marriage.

  • 2 weeks later...

If you are doing the 60 day extension for visiting wife make sure you have the khor rhor 2 not only the marriage certificate. Probably also for a 1 year extension but haven't done that so not sure. They asked me for it yesterday.
