Pheu Thai mulls next move
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Pheu Thai Party MPs will meet to discuss the party's next move at an undisclosed place following the imposition of martial law, former Ubon Ratchathani Pheu Thai MP Somkid Chuakong said yesterday.

He said the declaration of martial law was nothing short of seizing state control. He said the party would like the Army chief to push for an election as a solution and implement reform later.

The party is totally against the proposal to nominate a PM, under Article 7. He urged the military not to abuse its power and violate human rights. The red-shirt protesters near Aksa Road would not move away, he said.

Chalerm Yoobamrung, former director of the now-defunct Centre for the Administration of Peace and Order (CAPO), will stay at home as the anti-riot police providing him security have left.

Only five police officers and a defence volunteer are now stationed at the entrance to his residence.

Next move? PTP only want to keep on trying the same failed moved of elections ASAP. Negotiations would be different and have more chance of success.

Just push for elections without creating too much "noise" and for equal treatment of the yellow ammart supporters - pointing out, carefully and sensibly, if their are any differences

they can't be crushed and any future HAS to include them and if they are smart and not provocative they will win any future election when it comes

There he is. I was wondering if he already left the country. So he lost about 95 cops to protect him and is left with five. Then why stay home?

Did he quit his job at CAPO? I don't think The Gazette published CAPO and his job were deleted.

Appointment via Skype to Dubai at secret staging grounds: "Boss, what's the next move?"

Is the defence volunteer the one who nips round to 7-11 to stock up for him ?

More threats. You would think these thugs/come politicians would learn. facepalm.gif

The bat and ball have been taken as the others are not good enough to play with. Stuff the majority as the ones in charge have always been in charge.

I would just be careful now as some political people may be getting new shoes soon; one size fits all and the colour will be cement grey. Or they will go for a ride and may never be seen again.

Yellow looks good for the moment?

At the moment the PTP have been completely out manoeuvred by the Ammart or Ruling Elite. All they can do is appeal to world opinion, which is generally supportive. The Ruling Elite have power - they always have had and they intend to ensure they never lose it again. A sad situation for Thailand.

elections then reform....fool..i think the reason thais are saying reform first..is because they dont believe any party will do it after the election..do it now..it really isnt hard and wont take that long...if theres a will theres a way surely..

Puea Thai's next move should be to ditch Thaksin and become a proper political party before any further elections are contested. Any suggestion going forward that does not include some immediate commitment to reform is simply their way of saying 'we've got a super unfair advantage at the polls and we have no intention of rectifying it'. The more they chant 'election is the solution' the more devious they look.

Chalerm sitting at home with a never ending supply of ear medicine would have been the best solution right from the start. Must be wonderful to be in his position sitting there thinking about what a huge success he has been in his job's working for the Dubai paymaster. His family must be incredibly proud of his achievements.

geeze world opinion is only spouting the rule of law and the democratic way..not really aimed at ptp..they never seemed to reconize it..but too all involved i believe..wai2.gif

World opinion seems to be generally supportive with caveats today

Mulling.... they should be good at that. done very little else for the last three years.

Pheu Thai Party MPs will meet to discuss the party's next move at an undisclosed place following the imposition of martial law,

They should keep an eye on them and arrest them all, since gathering from more than a certain number of people are not allowed under martial law.

A corrupt Government has had to be removed and the Army has had to step in and take over its reponsibilities while new arrangements are made. Just think how good would it be if the rice farmers got paid while the martial law was in operation... Pheu Thai have let down the country with their arrogant corrupt incompetence. Shame on August 3rd voters cant have a FAIR election to get rid of them once and for all and their paymaster but we all know the bribes and the threats will flow in the North and North East

Does PTP mulling their next move involve the use of travel brochures?

Blah blah elite. Blah blah ammart blah. The fact is all sides were not doing what was necessary for Thailand and it seems that some believe that bleating the same stuff will get the US and Europe on their side.. well at the moment they are firmly on the fence (as usual)

PTP making demands as usual - they really do have a general difficulty understanding what is going around them at any given time - we have the "supposed" government of Thailand holding a meeting in a hotel room - right ? anybody else see something wrong with this ?

The red-shirt protesters near Aksa Road would not move away, he said.

This is the crazy part. The reds are UDD and pro government supporters.

Yet government official makes a claim as if reds are under their control, which they clearly are.

Which does mean all the attacks on anti- government protesters were sponsored and ordered by current government

YES, hotels usually have rules to allow max of 2 or 3 people in the room. In some hotels, rooms can handle 5laugh.png

The army told them to go about their business, so ministers having a meeting is hardly an unlawful act.

They should be thrown out for what they have NOT done, and for what they have done. No second chances for this regime and they are that sick enough, and have the audacity to MULL the next move.

Sorry you had your chance, you do not deserve elections your record proves it -the courts are proving it---get out. The lot of you.

I think he meant --tick over for a while do your normal business NOT monkey business.

Hmmmmm......

The PTP's next move eh?

Sit there, shut up and wait for your replacements.

If the red camp consider it a coup, then sit there, shut up and accept it, because the only way forward is to remove the thorn from the foot.

Electoral reforms and election.... no other way.

More likely a conference call via skype.

Rumor has it (BP article this morning) that Yingluck has left the Kingdom.

Well so they should mull there next move , they have been caught out once again, everyone including the village idiot could read which game the PTP was playing , that was either ,a Referendum or elections, wounder why , well you have been beaten at your own game, now the next move is up to you , I strongly recommend that you all step down , whether you are forced to or not is up to U.coffee1.gif

fortunately YOU are not the Thai electorate and Thais know that the Dems had 3 years in power with your superhero Suthep as DPM and did nothing

they also know that the Courts NOT democracy brought down this government and they KNOW that it is democracy that will save Thailand eventually NOT a few rich, elite ammarts in BKK

their time will come again... now is the time for quietly pushing for elections and embarrassing anyone who delays in the international arena - not fighting
