Take care.

The picture for me is blurred. I can't see the head clearly and the picture is taken from an odd angle.

It looks not up similar to a Malayan Pit Viper. They are venomous and quite dangers if I am right.

The fatter ones are the female ones are fatter and bigger and they move relatively quickly when they become aggressive.

I don't want to alarm you. Do you have any clearer pictures? Do NOT approach the snake to take another.

Please remember, most snakes are scared of Humans, they feel your vibrations as you approach and normally they like to retreat. Many people get bitten because they either try to catch or kill the snake. Sadly many people kill them unnecessarily.

No others sorry it didnt really have a tri angular body but the markings do looks a little like the one you`ve shown there, it was lying still in the middle of the garden then it shot off up a banana tree.

Thanks for your info and anymore would be appreciated.

Ohhh, that's a bit odd, the Malayan Pit Viper normally likes it on the ground, they like to hide under foliage and I was just reading they don't often flee but can bite and then remain. I didn't know that but I have seen one becoming extremely aggressive.

I will look for some others, the markings are a little bit odd.

Do You know of anyone around that is a snake catcher....perhaps your wife or family know.

There's not many around and sadly Thais normally kill first and identify later. My best advise at this time is to stop the kids going outside and I will see if I can call another poster from here to help.

I have a friend he's a herpetologist and I've paged him to come and have a look here and talk to you. I cannot be guaranteed when he will get the message, sorry.

In the mean time, stay away from it, I don't really have the skill or knowledge to advise you. I only have my experiences with deadly Australian and Thai snakes.

I like them but I'm very cautious of them at the same time. Especially getting bit in LOS, isn't such a good idea.

There is a small book. Snakes and other reptiles of Thailand and South-East Asia. Authored by 5 people. Cost me about 400 Bt. I think Asia Books will have it.

Thanks for visiting Mosha, was hoping skywalker would drop past. Maybe soon.

I have a couple of snake books in Thailand, both at home on the shelf, unfortunately I'm not there.

I agree, a few hundred baht, easy.

Thanks neverdie for your help...

No problem, I'm sorry I don't,have access to my snake books ATM.

There are many more snakes in Thailand, not venomous and hopefully it's one of those.

The most dangerous thing we could do at the moment is, mis-identify it......that would be a problem.

I'm not sure what area (roughly) in Thailand you are in?

Okay, can you download the book on that guys site and go to page 67. well worth the effort the book IMHO. it's free.

I don't like the markings, I'm still wondering about the pit viper, have a look at the photo on page 67, looks different there, doesn't it.

It is also the danger time for snakes in Thailand ATM.. Start of May and it was hot early too.

My friend is messaging me and telling me to get you to check out the keel backs. He hasn't seen your picture yet and it doesn't look like a common keel back to me.

If I were in Udon I would come and get it. lol. As usual my wife would be going crook at me. I have caught many snakes at home and moved them back to the bush, before the Thais get at them. Sad to see one bludgeoned to death for no reason.

:(

Another option would be to ring Sompop Sridaranop at 089-0438455.

He's in CM, but he may know someone down Udon way. Snake people tend to know other snake people. Worth a try if you speak reasonable Thai.

I also just woke my friend up (5.30am for him) and he will attempt to get up, get his PC on and come and take a look. Sorry, but I've got no idea really, but at least you've got so e more info now. I will stop messaging you.....probably driving you nuts.

I like snakes buy when skywalker gets here you will see someone even more crazier than me ;)

Nice tip that book looks awesome on the iPad for now to me it looks like the one on page 34 Cantors Kukri Snake see if you agree.

Yes, good for you, nice book. Comes up smashing on iPad, I agree.

Ok, I am looking at the Cantors Kukri snake. Sorry, I wouldn't of picked that fromyour foto....but that was why I asked for another foto. 555555

no offence of corse, you did well and it's always best to stay clear until you get some idea.

Up to you really, I didn't see it. I can't really help. My friend is also coming for a look, see what he thinks.

The Kukri lives I the hole and prefers the ground. they go after frogs and the like. Not sure what it's doing in the banana tree ?

The more I look the more I agree with you InSiSongKram

Cantors Kukri.

Nice, I don't think I've ever seen one.

Maybe if it's possible for you to carefully take another foto and double check with the snake guy in Krabi before you let the kids out.

I'd hate to see it with it's head cut off for no reason. :(

Hi guys, sorry I am late. I oversleept and yes it was nice. I took a new look on the picture and due to quality (no offence) it´s hard to say what species it could be and as I am out of town I have to wait untill i get home to my books to see if i can find this one out.

If one don´t know for 100% what snake it is treat it as a poisonous snake.

Thank you...
