Emirates....ba

Featured Replies

Hi

A question for any aviation regulation buffs out there. Should Emirates proposal to take over BA come about would they be considered a middle eastern airline or a British airline?

If so what are the ramifications for direct flights by the proposed new/merged airline and direct London to Bangkok flights?

As I understand it under current regulation a BA flight to New York currently direct would have to go via middle east. Whereas an Emirates flight to Far East could now go direct from UK.

Any ideas?

TBWG :o

Must have slept in this morning as I missed that one but ....WOT a good idea ..cant see it though. :D

If it did happen I would be sure that its only a matter of where the airline is registered that would apply.

If it happened and they called the out say British Emirates International then a UK base would prob.be OK.

If on the other hand if it became say Emirates International then suppose Dubai would be the bees knees.

On the subject of Emirates I was reading the other day about Sheik Mohammed's action plan for the expansion of the airline and the new airport....impressive....smart guy.... :o and loads of bubble for british Expats in the offing....

Apart from having an order in for 46 new BIG Airbuses he also intends to build what appears to be the biggest airport (new )in the World.

They are drawing up (back of a fag packet...yea) projects to include for a complex with six ( 6 ) runways and an expected turnover of 150 million passengers a year ......almost from a standing start...gotta give "em credit......

Dubai is also building houses at a rate that would give John Prescott a shock and there are suggestions that anything up to 100,000 Brits could eventually buy a gaff over there.....none of all that farang can own a lump of wood rubbish......

Now if they would only buy out Thai International ...that would be something... :D
