Non-B Visa and Work permit if I leave the country for 3-6 months

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Once again I turn to my TV oracles to help me out!

If I leave the country for 3-6 months, but my multiple entry non-B visa is valid beyond that and I am still employed by my company during this time, will the visa stay valid?

As i see it, I am free to enter and exit the country as I see fit during the valid period of the visa, I see no restrictions for having to be in the country a certain amount during that time... right?

And same goes for my work permit.. I am still employed by the company but on maternity leave, so my work permit should stay valid... (this one I'm less sure about, they probably have restrictions saying you have to be in the country)..

I just can't seem to find any information on this anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

insufficient contribution of taxes may become a problem for a next extension ... you can, even if not making salary for a few months, have something as voluntary tax contributions made I believe

If you have a multiple entry non-b visa from an embassy or consulate it would remain valid even if you stopped working.

If you have an extension of stay from immigration and you have a leave of absence it would also remain valid. Their could be some issue with tax payments if you were close to needing to do your application for another extension after your leave ended.

As long as you are still employed your work permit would remain valid.

There are a whole shed load of Thai laws/regulations regarding maternity leave and employers are obliged to provide it.

You remain employed and your WP can(must) be renewed prior to expiry.

Proof of maternity leave should circumvent any tax issue as regards a new extension, but I have no personal knowledge of anyone who has done this on re-application for extension of permission to stay.

And it doesn't matter if I am in or out of the country? Just whether I am till employed.. hmm...

Wouldn't you still receive a salary during your period of absence? If so, then there shouldn't be a problem either ways.

No, not for the whole period as it is maternity leave. Three months is paid, the rest is unpaid...
