Foreign Nationals In Uk Applying For Thailand

Featured Replies

I know this is a bit of a strange one but well if anyone has any ideas!!!

So since my hubby is now in UK on settlement visa I had hoped that I could finally introduce him to fabulous LOS in a nice wee two week holiday - big problem I now realise being that he is Nigerian. Thai embassy London deal with Nigerian application from Nigeria and the info they have is

". When applying for a Thai visa, a Nigerian national has to follow Thai visa regulations accordingly:

2.1 For a Nigerian whose permanent residence is Nigeria or in countries where no Thai Embassy Consulate is situated, application has to be made for a visa only at the Royal Thai Embassy in London with the requirement to present a Certificate of Clearance from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency of Nigeria. This is to comply with the request of the Nigerian authority for prevention of drug-trafficking by Nigerians entering Thailand;

2.2 For a Nigerian whose permanent residence is in foreign countries where a Thai Embassy Consulate is situated, one can apply for a visa at the Thai Embassy Consulate

in that country with no requirement of a Certificate of Clearance from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency of Nigeria;"

Now silly me HOPED he would fall under point 2.2 as that would be a lot less hassle but according to the man I spoke to in Embassy he falls under point 2.1 !!! But I thought that his permanent address was now here as obviously to come on a settlement visa you have given up your old address!

So did I just explain it all wrong or am I the poor bizzum that has to face the harsh reality of no holidays to LOS for me for another year or so!!

Anyone with any ideas would be much appreciated??? I do hope I just explained it all wrong and hopefully with a letter from his work, bank stuff etc they will let him be classed as resident here!! sob sob!

Afraid you may find that the (LOSI)Embassy considers a settlement Visa in the same light as a Visitors....temporary and you may have to wait until your hubby gets his ILR... :D

I had a similar thingy when wifie and I tried to get her a holiday "chop" to go to Uncles Sams place for a weeks jolli.(cost me £40) :o

Althought we did all the right things they ...CIA-FBI-NSC-were not convinced that she was gonna stay/return to the UK and gave her a body swerve..Told us to come back when she is more settled ...ie at least an ILD...Ye OIL.....

Now she has the red one we havnt even bothered again.... :D

In looking back however maybe they did us a favour since we had intended going to the Big Apple on the first week in November.....2001.......

yeah that might not havebeen so great a break!

Thanks for the feedback - I will -email them and see what they say and hope that it was just my scottish accent that threw the poor man!

Hmmm not rating my chances though - really fancied getting out of Europe over winter - maybe other places won't be so fussy!

Will wait and see!

You might have more luck trying a Consulate rather than the Embassy, where they are pretty strict. Cardiff, Birmingham, and Hull are all good.

Might be a bit easier....

Thanks guys - already tried Glasgow and thel ovely lady had a near fainting attatck when I mentioned my husband was Nigerian :o ! She reffered me onto London but I may e-mail Hull as dare I say they have a lot clearer info on their website than London. I also noticed they take postal applications but London doesn't - very strange!!!
