finy
Every time I want to upgrade my dongle internet credit I have to visit a DTAC shop. I've heard you can buy credit from 7-11 for the Happy DTAC service and enter code on your computer to recharge credit. Can anyone please explain how it works, or if it's even possible to add credit without a DTAC shop around. Cheers
lomatopo
There is a 10-digit telephone number associated with your SIM. You can add value to your account via a gazillion methods. If you have a local bank account, then you can do this at an ATM. Or simply jot down your phone number, hand it over with some cash at any 7/11: http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/Online7-eleven.html http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/happyrefill.html http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/happytopup.html http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/services/refillbank.html Going to a DTAC shop to do this simple procedure is overkill. lucifer666
I believe that you can top up almost anywhere. ATM, 7-11, local Mom N Pops. There's even special top up machines that you can use ( they look like public telephones, without the handset). Although you have probably walked past hundreds without realising what they are ( i did).
lomatopo
There's even special top up machines that you can use ( they look like public telephones, without the handset). While these are fine for 10 - 50 (coin) baht top-ups (especially say for TrueMove H when getting 30 days for each 10 baht top-up), I'm not sure I'd be pumping 500 - 800 baht into one of these, assuming they even take that much, just to add value for a recurring monthly mobile data plan. There are more than enough options already listed/linked which might prove more reliable and resilient.
finy
I'm still not exactly clear on how you can choose a certain data plan based on the amount of money you pay. For example, it's around 299bht for 1gb/1month and 320bht with tax. If you give the 7/11 cashier 320bht do they automatically throw you onto that data plan? It sounds like you would just get 320bht of PAYG credit.

elzach
OP, you can top up at a 7-11 for the amount you know you'll need and then subscribe to the data plan by calling from that SIM the code number (for DTAC *104*.....) It's easier if you tell them "online top-up", you enter the phone number on the machine in front of the register. Btw, your plan doesn't sound great. I know DTAC has a plan for 399 bht for 3GB (3G speed).
lomatopo
I'm still not exactly clear on how you can choose a certain data plan based on the amount of money you pay. http://www.dtac.co.th/en/prepaid/products/Happy-internet-package.html You can subscribe to a monthly, automagically recurring, unlimited mobile data plan by using the subscription codes. You can use any phone, or your dongle UI may allow you to originate USSD commands. Maybe best to cancel, then resubscribe to one of the double allotment plans? *104*21*9# 399 baht (so ~ 428 baht with VAT, normally 1.5 GB unlimited, FuP 64 Kbps, but you get 3 GB for six months promotion). There are gazllions of mobile data plans. Just make sure you have enough value associated with your SIM/number before the renewal date. If you give the 7/11 cashier 320bht do they automatically throw you onto that data plan? It sounds like you would just get 320bht of PAYG credit. You would add 320 baht to the current prepaid balance associated with your SIM/telephone number, then you might subscribe to a mobile data plan, or have one automatically recur each month, and your balance would be automatically deducted for the amount for the plan + 7% VAT. Next up: managing validity/expiration, how much data have I used.... Edited May 31, 2014 by lomatopo

lomatopo
You may do all on the computer web site. top ups etc. Yes, the DTAC eService platform (web, mobile) can be very handy for managing one's account. Below is a screen from within eServices showing the on-line refill options. (You can do the same via the mobile app.) https://mydtac.dtac.co.th/EserviceRegister/Index https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=th.co.crie.tron2.android Edited May 31, 2014 by lomatopo

finy
Apparently for internet you need to visit a DTAC store or do it online. Talked to someone in DTAC today and 7-11/ATM is just for phone credit.

I'm trying to do it on the https://my.dtac.co.th/esv/en/quickRefill, but the button "Refill now" is not active. Change your Browser. Works for me on all Browsers so far. Use a PC/laptop. Make sure that you are entering a DTAC number, fill in all fields and agree to the T&C, otherwise the Refill button will not appear. Before I tried 8910xxxxx without any luck on Firefox/Chrome/Opera running on Windows/Linux. My today's attempt to refill with adding 0 before 89 failed with pop-up message "This is not dtac number". Sounds embarrassing because I was ready to use DING (the service to top up any phone in any country), contacted their CSS, and they confirmed that the number I was trying to refill was DTAC. But DING works only with prepaid DTAC numbers. On the other hand, following the link to Pay bill - https://my.dtac.co.t...en/quickPayment I'm able to go through up to an option to choose foreign bank - card issuer. P.S. The person whose number I'm trying to top up is out of reach at the moment, in the meanwhile I just want to make clear the procedure I should follow. Jai Normous
Probably not the solution you are looking for, and a little labor intensive, but I take the sim card out of the dongle and put it in a phone, then load up more credit with the scratch card or receipt from 7/11, then put the sim card back in the dongle.
