My 6th marriage extension is due on 1 August 2014. Immigration have said in the past I have to apply and submit all the paperwork etc and payment (with my wife) 3 weeks before, and then wait for the approval. In the past they have given temp extension of a further one month (1 September) whilst awaiting that approval.

This time around I will be travelling in Europe during June/July on a multiple entry exit/re-entry permit. My question is what is the latest date I can apply for the extension.

This will determine my planned date of return from Europe.

You should be able to apply up to the date your current extension expires if all of your paperwork is in order. If they give you any grief you could get a 60 day extension, visiting Thai wife, and then apply for the 1 year within the time frame that they require, but it will cost you and additional 1900 baht.
